hay. drove my lcr home from work today n half way home it started to miss fire. sounds like a scooby. funny smell from under bonnet and flashing management light. any ideas wot it could be? coil pack maybe???? plz help

I think you can read faults with that?

You'll be able to smell which one it is, I'd personally replace all 4 rather than just 1

I've not used Vagcom but I think you just do a fault scan?

If it's broke it won't make any difference and will run the same

It will stall if you remove the good one as it won't run on 2

That's how I do it, get a bit of a bolt sometimes but nothing that's going to paralyse you (N249 bypass means I can get to all four easily too)

just replace all four, i had one go last week and did all at once and the car feels much better for it.
dont know if thats my imagination though, on another note i got mine from TPS and got a 12month warrenty with them

Vag-com does'nt always show a fault so it wont confirm anything really

But often nothing is logged as a fault, when mine went vag-com showed no faults, its not reliable as an indicator of coil pack failure, thats all i am saying.

true, but it also has a misfire counter the coilpack has to be goosed to throw a fault
