ok i found my answer on an american webby.... mikey u should find that u boost guage will say like 23psi or what ever ur thing boosts to now its tuned to fcuk... the MAP on the scan guage should read 14psi more.

the reason is the map measures Absolute PSI and the guage will measure atmpspheric PSI

"Good question. It is a different type of measurement.

the MAP sensors reads what is called "absolute" pressure, while a boost guage reads (normally) what is called "gauge" pressure. The difference is that absolute is referenced to a perfect vaccuum, while guage is referenced to atmospheric pressure.

so, normal atmospheric pressure at sea level is about 14.7 lbs/sq in, which is what the MAP sensor reads. A Boost gauge is pressure above atmospheric so 14 lbs MAP pressure = 0 lbs of "boost".

MAP-14 is an "approximation" of boost. since MAP pressure varies with altitude temperature etc. If you read MAP pressure with the engine off, or idling that is the number you should subtract to get boost.

hope this helps"

thats what i just stole from a webby lol

hope this does help and mikey please confirm it for me

Manifold pressure is defaulted to PSi, however it is not the real PSi that is being shown. Ie mine shows that the Mini is running 30 Psi, which it is not. In fact i know for sure that the Mini holds 18Psi. However on the minis i was told you have to allow for atmospheric pressure etc, so minus off 12psi of what figure it shows and thats the true figure.

Thats not really correct. Manifold pressure is mbar, which is always + atmospheric pressure.

So if you spike at 2550, your true psi is roughly 2550mbar - 1000mbar x ~0.0145. Which is ~ 22.5psi.

This isnt the question i was asking tho, does it show any kind of pressure at all when its hooked up to a Seat OBD. Not whether it can show it or not.

Reason i'm asking is some products are funny with this type of vehicles i.e. Greddy InfoMeter.

when i ahve mine on map it reads 17 when its sat still, unfortunatly my boost hose has snapped so can't tell you what it reads on full load, it does tell you mph but when traveling at 80 on my spedo it reads 72 and the gps reads 75 so i don't know which one to belive lol!! it does show mpg but think you have to put in how much fuel you filled up with how much your tank holds and you have a few engine options diesela dieselb hybrid petrol and a couple of others its really quite confusing good for clearing faults though :D looks cool in the dash aswell!!

on the mini, mine sits at 12 Psi with the engine off, Then when idling it goes to 6 PSi, ( ie vacuum) then on full chat say in 3rd gear it will hit 31-32 Psi boost and holds around 27Psi. Which is spot on when you minus off the 12 psi, as my GT tuning set up is meant to boost to 18to 19 psi, and when it does hit 19 psi it triggers a overboost warning light on dash. So it does seem to work quite well on my car, however not sure on Ibiza, will try on my mates TT when we go to ring on tuesday.
