Ahhhh, i get you now xd !, post #48 is a diagram of the back of the radio. So pin #3 is second from left (top row) on the connector that goes into the radio !. I should have been shot at birth !! - sorry for being thick !!!

cheers xd, lee and everyone who helped. Might just have saved a fortune in repairs if the radio had caused some issue to the kline there !. Incidentally what is the worst that could happen if i left it the way it is ?

On second thoughts. - I dont think you have a wire into pin 3 in your cars wiring. If you do, cut it as said. If not ...
It seems the radio is using pin 7 for the telephone mute as the ISO telephone mute (pin1) is to be used as speed sensor for the radio and by Seat.
Pin 2 is used by seat for telephone mute

But pin 7 is your permenent +12V that should be reconfigured through the adaptor to pin 4. Therefore the radio when muted is somehow messing with your car.

Switched supply is going to pin 4 which should be a permenant supply.

You need to get the permenant supply to pin4 instead of pin 7.

Your best bet really is to get the adaptor or just ensure pin 3, 2 and 5 (if not using the antenna amplifier) are not completing a circuit

I suggest you just dont mute the radio and turn it off to mute it rather than all this messing.

Yeah.

You need to cut and swap the wire going into Pin 7 with the one going into Pin 4.
Swapping permanent and switched 12V. Just so memory is retained by the radio

If there is a wire in Pin 3. Cut it.

Cut wire in Pin 2 - if you do not want to use the telephone mute function.

Also, remove any top connectors (C block) and leave unconnected. You wont need them.

I assume you have tried this when driving the car or with the car engine running.
The scangauge will shut down if you put the car to just the ignition after it running. It doesnt turn on either until the car is started.

Yeah if it actually went to a sub. But the cars wiring uses it for the K-Line (car diagnostics) which is the problem as described on the ross-tech website. So by not using the adapter you are getting an output on this and this will cause a problem.

Oh, firstly try if possible to disable the sub-out and see if that fixes it. May disable the output on pin 3.

Hi, well i've just swapped the permanent +ve and +ve ignition over and the illumination bit is now fine!. Put it back together, scangauge didn't work. So i disconnected wire to Pin3 (sub woofer) and HEY PRESTO !!! scangauge now works as it did before !! - so you were right, it was to do with the wire on Pin3 (sub woofer). Virtual pint on xd and yee all who'v helped !

Well off topic but i've just noticed while i've been on with all this that the exhaust is kicking out a bit of smoke (which i've never seen on a hot day !), not black or anything like that, just looks like a car on a cold morning (not quite as much smoke as that tho), and spitting out spits of water (i presume it's water) on revving to about 3000 rpm, is that normal, or is it just me being paranoid yet again ??

Andy

Good stuff. Glad you go it sorted out.

Hows the calibration going?
The amount of stuff now i have to note when filling up is huge. But should be cutting that down after a few more tanks. Calibration seems to be just about right.

Haha, well the bad thing is, in my confident wisdom that a reset would get the Scangauge working again i reset it !! (stupid boy !!), now i have to start again with the tank refills !! - i had gotten up to about 5 or 6 refills, but i'm gonna have to start again !!!! hmmmmm

What did you say you had your offset stored as ??

Tank size: 12, Speed calib: -2 (are these right ?)

Andy

Cheers Xd! - i'll get the cutoff set to 5. Wouldn't care i only just filled up yesterday morning with £52 worth of petrol at 119.9p/l, then the damn prices went down to 115.9 in the afternoon !!!! - just typical !

Hi there !! - had my scangauge quite a while now and wondered if there were any new codes out ???. Would like to know if the g-force gauge can work on the Leon ???

Looking at the cleanmpg forum there looks to be a wealth of new codes on there, but unclear if they also work on the Leon ??

Here, to list but a few:

GAUGE: Solicited Traction SOC
CONF?: Yes, confirmed
UNITS: Percentage of Full charge
->TXD: 07 E3 21 CE
->RXF: 05 61 86 CE 00 00
->RXD: 30 08
->MTH: 00 0A 00 02 00 00
->NAM: Sts
NOTES: Solicited / Active gauge, so first char upercase

GAUGE: Passive Traction SOC
CONF?: Yes, confirmed on SG FW version "3.15" only not "3.15*"
->TXD: 03 C3
->RXF: 01 03 82 CB 00 00
->RXD: 20 10
->MTH: 00 0A 00 02 00 00
->NAM: pts
NOTES: Passive gauge, so first char lowercase

GAUGE: Solicited L5 SOC
CONF?: Yes, confirmed
UNITS: Percentage of Full charge
->TXD: 07 E3 21 CE
->RXF: 05 61 86 CE 09 00
->RXD: 30 08
->MTH: 00 0A 00 02 00 00
->NAM: Sls
NOTES: Solicited / Active gauge, so first char upercase. RXF is looking for '00' in byte nine. For the traction battery this is the LSB for the battery current which would always (99.61%) read non-zero.

GAUGE: Passive L5 SOC
CONF?: Yes, confirmed on SG FW version "3.15" only not "3.15*"
->TXD: 03 C3
->RXF: 01 03 82 CB 08 00
->RXD: 20 10
->MTH: 00 0A 00 02 00 00
->NAM: pls
NOTES: Passive gauge, so first char lowercase. RXF is looking for '00' in byte eight. For the traction battery this is the temperature reading of the battery. It will only read 0 celcius, when it really is 0 celcius in the battery conpartment. GAUGES

GENERAL

GAUGE: BOOST (TURBO)
CONF?: YES - 2001 Jetta TDI
UNITS: PSI
->TXD: 68 6A F1 01 0B
->RXF: 04 41 85 0B 00 00
->RXD: 28 08

NOTES: THIS WORKS FOR TDIs, NOT SURE ABOUT GAS TURBOS, IT USES MAP. REPLACE FF 71 (14.3 PSI) WITH 2'S COMPLIMENT OF LOCAL ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE IN PSI (YOU CAN ADJUST THE NUMBER SO BOOST IS 0 AT IDLE). MATH IS #*145/100-143 (CONVERTS KPa -> PSI), SUBTRACTS ATM PRESS IN PSI

There is nothing new there for the Leon and just about all of them are for Prius or Ford cars.

The ones that do apply (MAF, bHP, Boost for TDI, Inst MPG) have already been listed on the first page.
Havent been able to find anything new for a while
