Vagcom or VCDS doesn't have SVM as part of the functions.

Only a stealer diagnostic machine with VW internet connection can update the SVM.

If it is not done the official way - each time your car goes in for a service the cars equipment is checked against the central database.
If there is a discrepancy the system asks if the car should be reset to the database.
If it is reset - anything that wasn't fitted at the factory or fitted officially and SVM updated will stop working.

and this is why i didn't go down the remap route.

Are you worried they would reset it back to factory ?
Surely if you have had a remap you just tell them not to reset it or **** around with it, it's your car after all so you can do as you please with it (warranty issues aside)

I mean if you took your car in to a seat dealer with aftermarket wheels on, you wouldn't expect to pick it up and find they have fitted factory wheels back on :)

HI
Did anyone taught on the possibility of changing some files on the new version so the system recognizes it as the same version it had before?
That way it would use the new maps ...

Regards

Many have tried - none have yet worked out how.

If you manage to do it - please let us know.
