Samco Upper Intercooler hose keeps popping off - any ideas?

hey all

3rd time this has happened, i hear a leak from inside the car between 10-20psi (ie when pushing the car a bit) - first time round I found it it fell off totally on the m3 when doing 70mph, coasted into service station and luckily had screwdriver/spanner on me to do it up again.

Now I hear the same "woosh" from my car as before. Had a quick look at the car when i got back from work (i dont drive to work at the moment - get a lift) but it was too dark to really see anything, but it did feel a little loose... will have to check again when i can, and when its light.

Now, I'm not being silly - I'm using hi-grip/torque jubilee clips on all my hoses, and this is the only one I'm having problems with. Its the lower connection to the intercooler top.... Its a pain to get to but i make sure its on far enough, there a ridge on the top of the intercooler manage to push the hose up to - can't get it over the ridge (should it go over it?) and i put the jubilee clip on and do it up as tight as possible with the screwdriver, then use a spanner/rachet to do it up more....

Now i don't think the jubilee is knackered, and I dont want to do it up any tighter as the intercooler connection is plastic, and i don't want to crush it....

Only thing i can say is that my intercooler hoses seem to have/get a fair bit of black oily stuff (assume oil, so no smart-comments here! lol) in them, and wondering if this is managing to "lube" the join?

Anyone got any help on this? Would appreciate it. Ta

do you have a flexi driver? they have a sort of inbuilt 'torque' wrench, a spring, and you can get to most angles with them

£5 from hell frauds

no i don't, but could see if i could get one i suppose.
Didnt think a hose could cause this many problems lol

I used a rachet with a flexi-drive adapter bit, didnt have any real problems getting to it......

If I slide the hose on as far as possible, where should the jubilee be - at the end of the hose (furthest down the intercooler connection) or at the end of the intercooler connection, but not at the end of the samco hose....

If that makes sense?

I'd think the first option - the jubilee isnt coming off the hose, it seems to be fine, but its the hose coming off of the intercooler.

Try hair spray on the bit where it joins had same problem on a skyline - first gunk join then dry off completely...little hair spray and tighten down clip

lol - like i have an endless supply of them

Might swap it over with the one on the other end of the hose - have to see what happens.
Tis a PITA. It lasts for like, 1.5k miles before leaking. seems to work its way loose.
Ho hum - time to refit it AGAIN

I'm gonna get an FMIC soon - i think perhaps the extra boost could be hindering my problem, but it shouldnt make them come off.

I suspect oil is in it now, so i'll have to remove completely, clean it off, and refit.

Not exactly expensive/hard to come by. If you're struggling, PM me the size.

hehe - sod it - I'm gonna go out now in the dark and remove the hose - and take a rag with me to clean it up. Bring it indoors, finish the job, and try to refit :)

ok guys - quick question for those with an LC (i suppose the LCR is possibly different)

How far on does the hose go? Theres a small "ridge" about 1/2 way down the intercooler connection, I can't get my hose over it and assume thats right, seems to be on tighter again now, but I will need to check it again when a) its daytime (only weekends for me - too dark when i get home) and b) when I have the tools to do it (all at parents house - havent got room in our flat :( )
