Well today i finished all the piping and wiring etc, cranked it over but the battery was a bit flat so it crank twice and then it "chuggs". So not enough amperage to swing it over, leaving the battery on charge overnight, so should be able to start her up tomorrow.

And some pics for kicks.

Had to fit a Golf MK1 Brake fluid reservoir to clear the VR6 OBDII throttle body:redface:

Had a custom exhaust manifold built by one of our local performance exhaust companys,
4 - 2 -1

And what she stood like this morning, fitted a 90degree silicone elbow connecting to a carbon K-racing intake, Oil catch can. Also fitted the radiator and valence (not shown in pic)

Great looking beast was thinking the throttle body didnt look right for an ABF. Whats the advantage of having a VR6 one on it? I'm sure you'll have great fun with the ABF its a propper drivers engine i certainly enjoyed mine even if it was the biggest pain in the arse i've ever known!

I think the R8 lights actually suit it well sat there, a lot of people have just stuck them on any old how and made them look silly but you've got it right.

Fantastic and unusual car, gonna keep my eye on this thread now :)

The polos were never released with the abf engine so i have to run the vr6 TB to work with the std factory mp9 management. Why was your abf such a pain?

Thanx for the great comments, keeps me motivated :D

I think i just bought it at the wrong point, it had just crossed 100k miles which is major replacement time for most parts. When i sold it it was going the best it ever had!

I went through a huge list of parts but with working full time and little mechanical know how i never had the time to sort it/teach myself. You shouldnt have these problems as i'm guessing you've put a lot of new parts on it before its gone in.

im currently building an abf clone here in the states out of aba block and rods with 9a pistons, although i might break down and get some 13.1 compression pistons. swap looks clean, hope it works out well for you!
