car-help-um, could we revive this topic? :) I am very interested in doing this mod to my car but there is still not much info.

- how do you detach the media unit? I can see in the pictures that you are using some special tools for head unit removal. What's the part number, are there any instructions how to use the tools and remove it?

- How do you run the cables from the front to the rear, how long cable do you need, which panels do you remove, is it easy, is there risk of loosening?

- How do you provide the power to the camera, are you taking it from reverse lights or you run from the front? If you take it from reverse and those are LED lights, is the power/voltage good for the camera? How exactly is this done? If you take the power from the front, where do you take it from?

- How do you mount the camera, do you drill the hatch? What panels are removed, is it easy?

- How do you reprogram the car software to support the camera? Are guidance lines added in software or they come from the camera, do they represent the real leon dimensions, can you calibrate the guidance lines? Does it depend at what angle you mount the camera so that guidance lines are exact?

- Is it possible to send the signal from the camera to the front wireless?

Any help and information would be appreciated :)

I read on Kufatec site that camera works on MIB Standard - does that mean 5" color system without navigation or voice?

Is there any more info on this mod? I'd be quite interested in doing this on my ST when it arrives, but if it involves messing with VCDS then I think I'll have to leave it. Has anyone else had a cam added at a specialist centre and can subsequently recommend somewhere to go to get mine sorted? I don't want to do anything myself that risks warranty issues later on, so I'd rather have it done by a proper auto electrician... I still find it really strange that seat thought it inappropriate to offer this option in the UK!

Do you know if this would work on an RNS 510 seat media system?

I think its easier on the rns510 as there is a connection on the back of the unit that you can plug straight into if you have the right camera and lead
A search on the mk2 forum should give you all the info you need, there was plenty of info when I was looking to fit a camera to mine

It's been six months nearly, I fear his rear view camera install may have failed at a critical moment and his wife reversed over him :stars:
:( ;)

Looking forward to seeing this.. The original poster has not returned to fill in the blanks..
I can understand all the wiring etc but once it gets to the VCDS coding part there is no information until your post.. Hopefully you can let us know if the coding you have posted is correct and how you got from your query to a working setup :)

I don't have VCDS (or a camera) but if I know how to do it then I would definitely be looking to get sorted out.
