Help!!
I've just fitted a BMC CDA to my LCR this afternoon.
When I came to fire the car up after fitting it wouldn't idle for a minute, hunting then eventually stalled.
Straight away it restarted and settled into a steady tickover.
So I took it for a test drive.
straight away I noticed the engine is not boosting (I can hear the turbo whistling biut theres no go in it and its struggling to rev too)
Tried stopping the car and restarting it.
I've also checked the MAF sensor plug is in correctly
Checked I've not knocked any hoses etc..
All to no avail!
Is it likely to have thrown a fault somewhere and gone into 'limp home'mode?
How do I reset it?
Any other ideas?

Anyone with VAG COM in the northwest?

Restarting it resets limp mode.

Try unplugging the MAF and see if it runs okay - I would guess that you've upset the MAF when you were fitting the BMC.

Di dyou bash it at all? They are apparently delicate.

Will it run without the MAF connected?
I was quite careful not to damage it, but you never know with these things!

It will run and if it'sd the same connected and disconnected it's pointing towards the MAF expiring (or on it's way).

MAF's aren;t that expensive £70 ish on exchange from GSF

sixpot, spotted u on the SCN googlemap.
I've got trial vagcom, so if ur still having probs tomorrow, we can meet as tesco's (end of winwick rd) and i'll clear the any codes.. if that's how you get it out of limp mode...
i need to do some shopping, so could kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

MAF may well not throw up any codes, which if the car is down on perfromance is another sign it's the MAF. Unfortuately MAF's seem to die slowly (giving reduced performance) only when they finally let go do you get fault codes and yellow light on dash sometimes too.

Excellent! cheers for your help guys! Might be just a co-incidence then that the MAF has expired? Car has only done 5500 miles!! so seems a bit premature?

Fuey I'll take you up on that offer just to see if any codes have been logged, as thats where we go shopping anyway!!
I'll PM you mate.

did you check there was no covering or anything that may be blocking the flow? , did you take the MAF off the TIP, it may be the wrong way round, tomorow try the old filter back on to see if its the filter or something else.

my car ran like poo for a min or 2 after fitting my carbonio CAI - instructions said it would too. Restarted car after a min and all was ok.

I knew it would run rough for a little while, as I did the same to my Golf.
But after driving 25 miles tonight it is still the same, and wouldn't go over 80 on the 'private motorway'
Think I'm just gonna have to buy a new MAF!
Are all vag ones (80mm) the same part no.?

OK heres an update:
VAG COM Said:
Start -------------------------------------------------------
VAG-COM Version: Release 311.2-N

Chassis Type: 1M - Seat Leon
Scan: 01,02,03,08,15,17,19,22,35,46,56

Address 01 -------------------------------------------------------
Controller: 1ML 906 032 A
Component: 1.8l R4/5VT 0001
Coding: 10510
Shop #: WSC 00000
VSSZZZ1MZ4R03**************
2 Faults Found:
17705 - Pressure Drop between Turbo and Throttle Valve (check D.V.!)
P1297 - 35-00 - -
17608 - Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249): Mechanical Malfunction
P1200 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
Readiness: 0000 0000

Skipping Address 15-Airbags

End -------------------------------------------------------

So I changed the DV back to the standard one assuming this was the problem.Still not right.
Took the BMC CDA off and re-fitted the standard airbox, hurrah!! back to normal all boost levels resumed, smooth engine again.
So for some reason my car doesn't like the CDA.
Anyone ever heard anything so stupid in all your life?
So I've paid the best part of £170 for something that doesn't even work on my car!!

BMC CDA works on an LCR - Fact

Your car has a problem though

The N249 is very close to the MAF and airbox, sure it wasn't distrubed or disconnected as it's throwing the fault code???

Fitting the BMC-CDA should require no other mods to make it work - really does sound like you knocked some cables in the process or something. Well, from the error codes anyway. Can't see any reason why an air filter would make the n249 malfunction at all.

so you say it is ok when put back to standard? if so a pipe could not have been unplugged otherwise it would not work as standard, id look at the BMC again.

Well looking at those pictures, mine looks a lot shorter (overall length) for a start,
I will get in touch with the supplier and check they've sent the right kit to me.
