rough idle issue

Hi all, noticed that once the car is warm, the idleing is a bit jumpy, say 100rpm in the 900rpm range. is it me being paranoid?

when i 1st got it was smooth as anything. not had its service yet..

also anybody work out why the electric windows have decided to stop 99% and needing an extra push of the button to seal them tightly?

thanks all :)

How long has it been without a service? Sounds minor, but its amazing how many rough idling problems are solved by an oil change, etc...
I would be interested in the window solution as well, ive tried the old hold for 10 second trick but to no avail :(

coolant temp sender. Temp sender is a common problem on the 1.8T
common old fault since VAG took over on anything remotely injected - wierd huh? maybe i should start a reliable temp sender company - all manufacturers seem to suffer the same fault

signs for that usually show as a change of running once off the *choke* stage

ie

runs fine when cold - crap when warmed up
or
crap when cold - great once warm

if it helps

cheers mate, booked it in for a inspection service, with 20k extra's to be done.

e.g. Pollen filter etc, mentioned the rough idle and hopefully they will sort it.

got courtest car too :) all be it a 1.2 mk4. get me to work ok ;)

he said 140 for service plus a brake fluid change, @ 44.95. which i want done as when my clutch master cylinder went, it lost some of the fluid :)

Hi there Fla@pper, I've had a rough idle problem for over 6 months (Ibiza 97 2.0 GTI 16v Cupra) and noticed that it only runs crap when it has reached operating temp. Changed temp sensor, coolant sensor, throttle position sensor and a few Vacuum hoses but you reckon it's the temp sender?
