Hey peeps,
What can this be?.....start me car in the mornings or evenings ect....after its been sitting for a while it will idle 1000rpm and keep droping down to like 500rpm and back again for a bout 10 seconds-sometimes it will cut out, even after an hours drive it will idle say 900rpm but will keep dropping 100rpm and up again.......and sometimes if i pull up to a juction when slowing down it might cut out when i put he clutch in.....also noticed a bit of blackish smoke come out if i stop and then pull off....

any ideas? ....probs have been covered before but coudnt find anything....

Cheers.

it may throw up a fault, it may not...you can always try unplugging the maf & going for a short drive, although this made no difference when mine went a few weeks ago....

im afraid plugging in VAG-Com & reading faults is as far as my knowledge goes..dont understand any of this logging business, sorry mate

best bet would be to log the maf. It might not throw a code but it could be reading real low.

Apart from the MAF it could be the coolent temp sensor sounds like the same symptoms that my valver had when hers packed up.

I have this exact problem but when it gets warm the car is fine. Theres no codes and I had a new green coolant temp sensor last year and maf logs look ok so not sure what to do next.

Mines doing it at the moment. Idle sensor on the air intake. Getting it sorted tomorrow hopefully.

When was the last time you changed your air filter?

I was having this problem with mine... after lots of time spent playing with MAF's and head scratching I took the air filter box to bits... the filters were totally clogged with sh*te. Changed filters and problem went away.

Right ive been getting confused now with whats been happening with me car...

Plugged it in to vagcom got a fault 'lamba sensor b1 malfunction in circuit'
cleared that and was fine untill a day later when it went into limp mode this time it bought up ''lamba no activity''. cleared it to see if it comes back after abit of driving so next day car was still idling rough so unplugged me maf and stopped idleing rough!.....so plugged it back in and so far all seems good since saturday- scanned it when i got home 'mass air flow g70 signal to low' would that be because i unplugged it or?......cleared it anyway and me car is running fine at the moment.

would this be that me maf is slowly dying? or lamba sensor ?
