Well with the Crail national meet coming up in June, I thought I would go out and test my car for launching from a standing start ... tried a couple of hard launches with TC off and it became immediately apparent that the Falken FK452 tyres are no use at all, just spun them! Once I got grip the car was moving quick and felt really good, but off the line the tyres are useless even on a bone dry road.

On the way home I started hearing a funny noise - sounds like the hard launches have blown a gasket, either the turbo-to-manifold or turbo-to-DP gasket has gone ..... too much engine movement?

Looks like I need stronger engine mounts - VF Engineering or Vibratechnics?

I had the INA mounts before and had too much engine movement.
Got some advise from Bill at Badger5 and bought the Vibratechnics FR mounts from him. The mounts are absolutely awesome :funk: and no movemnent !! I guarantee you, you wont regret this.

Road or competition mounts? Much vibration felt?

I've had VF mounts before and they were solid, alot of vibration through the car, didn't like them at all. I see VT mounts come in 2 types, road and competition.

Vibra Technics FR are the fast road mounts they are firm and you do not get any vibration into car.

I had the INA Street density mounts which I though were the same or kind off worse than the factory mounts for "my setup".

Ok so got a few new turbo gaskets coming (so I have spares - lol!), plus i've asked Issam for a set of track density engine mounts. I did consider the Vibra Technics or VF Engineering but at over £300 for a pair of engine mounts I feel they are alot of money, so i'll give the INA track density mounts a go, they're alot cheaper and I already have the track density dogbone so they'll all match.

Going to order new tyres soon as well, hopefully will have more grip!

Unfortunately nothing too fancy, can't afford R888's, R1R's or anything like that. Will be something like Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics, Yokohama Parada Spec 2 or if I can stretch to them - Hankook RS2's.

I would stay away from the F1 Assymetrics. I found them no where near as good as the GSD3s. In fact I went back to GSD3s before the Assymetrics were completely worn out just because I had had enough of them. (So I have a couple of part worn ones in my garage if anyone wants them :))

Hmmm interesting, everyone else says they are brilliant tyres! No matter what tyre I mention, there are always those for and against them!

The Vredestein Sessantas seem to get very good reviews, even for track use, but some people hate them.

That's true Rob, I must admit I was surprised at their performance (I had high hopes too) But then there's always the debate on bad batches etc etc.... A friend of mine had the Hancooks on his E30 M3 and rated them very highly but I'm sure some one else will say they're no good either!
Who says these forums are helpful? ;)

No idea! Never done 1/4 mile before so getting off the line I'll probably be rubbish, will give it a go though.

It would be interesting but I wouldnt waste the extra wear on your car, you have done so much to it it would be a waste.
