OK here's the centre grill I made, looks better than I thought because even when shut the bonnet catch sits in the hole I had to cut:

I reckon if I put a plastic cap on the end of the bonnet catch arm it will look even better.

Also fitted the towing eye that I had powdercoated red same time as the strut braces, I modified the grill so it fits without having to remove the entire side grill:

Is it legal to leave it in or would the Police pull me over for having the towing eye fitted?

Not had any issues with mine fitted, this was on all last year.
I had coppers around to the house too, traffic officer training guys, looking over my car.
They didn't say anything about it

Nice work Rob (just for a change ;) ) The front end full of honeycomb looks really good

That metal polishing place, have you used them before, a few years ago? Or have I got them confused with somewhere else - just remember you had something else polished up and it looked top notch :D

Well I got the gearbox oil changed today. The oil has been in there a long time, 5 years or so, so it needed changing (I had no idea what oil was in there, probably OE oil). Backdraft told me i'd need a 17mm hex for the drain and fill plugs, plus 2 litres of oil. Opie Oils recommended Silkolene Silktran Syn5 for my gearbox as I have the Quaife ATB diff in there.

So I got the 17mm hex and 2L of oil and off I went:

Only to discover that my drain and fill plugs are 14mm - not 17mm! Luckily I tried it before I started so I nipped out to Halfords and picked up a 14mm drain plug key.

Drain plug removed and old oil drained out:

Once all the old oil had drained out I cleaned up and refitted the plug, torquing it up to the correct 25Nm (18ftlb):

I removed the fill plug and after a tip from Alex @ Backdraft, I used a bit of hose and a funnel to fill the gearbox with fresh oil:

I put the full 2 litres in but it wasn't running out the fill hole to indicate it was full, put my finger in but couldn't feel the oil? Maybe the car is sitting slightly nose high or it needs more than 2L? When I put the old oil into the empty bottles of Silkolene for disposal there was only a very small amount left in the drain pan, so maybe 2L is enough? Safe to drive?

I have ordered another litre to be sure. Overall quite an easy job really.

Rob do you have much rattling from you SMF?

If you remove the speedo cable and over fill your GB with up to about 1L more this will stop/supress this

The Fluidampr on my car hasn't really damped out the Single mass clattering.
I've noticed especially after driving after a few minutes when everything is up to temperature it still rattles.

Over filling the gearbox, will that cause any damage?
