 ....nice work Rob!

.......don't forget all the porting work you did on the inlet manifiold and head!
i thought at the time that alone would increase air flow!

IMO this has to be the best kept Leon on the forum [B)]

I'd like to say a few things.

I owe Forge Motorsport an apology. I said before that cheap ebay intercoolers were just as good as their intercoolers ... this is clearly not the case! The Forge unit I have now appears to significantly outperform the cheap ebay one I had before. Cheap ebay coolers have their place in the market, but only up to a certain point. So big thanks to Forge for producing great intercoolers. The UNOS boost controller is also a great bit of kit too, simple and effective, does the job.

Myself and DPJ have proved beyond all doubt that Eliminator turbos do indeed work and can work VERY well, they just need some work in finding the right recipe for success. Water injection works very well too, as well as allowing you to advance timing it does a great job of keeping things cool, which allows you to increase the boost too.

Research your modifications, choose wisely and reap the rewards!

Big thanks to CR Turbos for building an awesome hybrid GT2X turbo and for their advice and support.

I'm not touching the engine any more now, it is spot on. The last thing I need to complete my car are a set of better, grippier tyres - I have been looking at the Toyo R1R and the Hankook RS2's.

Once I get new tyres I am calling the project complete. I will upgrade the turbo if it ever breaks, if it does I'll move to something like a GT2871R.

When I was by Unitronic using there engine dyno Mike Z was laughing at everyone using ebay intercoolers.
Dyno tested ebay unit to a similar sized Garrett core unit....picked up 45hp right across the board at about 1 bar of pressure.Made me giggle how much power people are being robbed by these things.

Dont mention it Rob.Guys like you make me want to wake up in the morning and go to work.I have said this before and I will say it again. If everyone out there behaved like the SCN crowd I would have NO problems...AT ALL

NONE
so whats next on the agenda?

lol @ 343bhp.....this is sounding like Danny lads thread where he never proved all that power

I am sure you will though Rob:)

anyway, onto a more serious question, why have you changed to a blue spring? is that harder than the yellow one? I cant remember and the science behind it all....

Lol if you want but my calculation was 100% bang on before, so no reason to doubt it, it made 317bhp at 219g/s before on the dyno and it's now making 236g/s, same calculation as before comes out at 343bhp. Even if it's not exactly that I don't really care as it pulls hard on the road and feels awesome - where it matters.

CR Turbos told me that the turbo could be capable of 330bhp, add water injection/advanced timing, JBS mani, Forge IC plus head porting and increased boost plus the Fluidampr (all of which weren't on the car when it made 317bhp) - so entirely possible yes. Yes the blue spring is stiffer, holds 1.7 BAR of boost better than the yellow spring.

Yeah I'll drive 300 miles to have my car dyno'd just for you! :p

prove it:cartman:;)

ok cool, might give it a go, although running a lot less boost than you so may be too stiff

I'm a firm believer in using the air mass figures to measure performance gains and from the extra you've measured thats a very healthy increase in performance and no reason to doubt a proportional increase in power has taken place since the last RR. Your car is now into Big turbo teritory :funk:.
The Unos does the job nicely as from my own experience boost is so smooth. I'm very impressed with the Fluidampr pulley i didn't expect it to actually make power as well as improve the feel of the car. The porting you've done has paid dividends i'm sure also.
350bhp is calling surely though. Issam where can Rob get an extra 10 bhp from to get him past the 350 bhp barrier.

Latest small mods ... I fitted two inline filters, one for the turbo oil feed line and a larger one for between the oil catch tank outlet and the inlet pipe. The turbo oil feed one will keep any potentially damaging particles out of the turbo and the breather filter should prevent any crud getting back into the inlet, also to safeguard the turbo inlet and keep it clean.

Breather filter, -10AN size:

I have parts being powdercoated this week, should have them back next week so will put up pics then, got all new stainless steel nuts and bolts for when they come back.

Looks excellent Rob but I think you're being very brave putting an in-line filter on your oil feed line. Could cause lots of expense and heartache if it clogs and it'll clog long before the pickup screen in the sump does. It looks sweet but after the amount of work you've put into the car, I wouldn't risk putting anything on such a vital oil feed hose.

Dont know what these inline turbo oil filters are like on lcr's but there nothing but problems on rst's.
