TIP fitted!

I have eventually got round to fitting my SFS TIP today! It's from a Golf/Leon so with a little bit of tweaking it now fits ok.

I'm not 100% happy with it as I still need to buy more silicone hosing to replace all the oem stuff to the DV etc. I haven't been out for a drive yet to hear or feel any difference but it's added a nice bit of colour to the bay...

I've had to bodge it a bit by using duct tape to seal the gap between the MAF and the Filter!
I'm going to have to replace the BMC as it's just too big and use the 45° elbow.

I defo don't recommend using the Golf/Leon TIP as the holes are in different locations to the Ibiza one, making it a MASSIVE pain in the ass to get everything plugged in comfortably! At least it's done now and my fingers are cut, bruised and numb!

No lights have come on the dash so hopefully I wont have the stalling issues realted to these tips, like others have!?

Well very disappointing driving the car thismorning :(

I think having the duct tape holding things together is taking the noise away from the filter! I can't even hear the DV, but performance isn't noticeably worse?

I need to get an alloy joiner and elbow, but need it asap. Does anywhere sell it that I can walk in and buy?? I know motorserve do some but it's all blue.

So today I attempted to resolve my filter issue and have made a temporary setup.
Popped down to motor serve this morning and bought a 45° metal elbow and a straight 70mm length of silicone hosing. I had to cut the metal tubing down by a couple of inches to allow fitting and also cut the silicone for joining.

I't looks a bit cack with the blue but like I say it's just temporary while I order a new filter...

What's extra cack is I had to use an old filter I had in the garage to make it fit which I got from egay years ago! It's actually from my old 1.4 so the neck size is something like 50mm and the cone is tiny, which meant I had to customise it. I know It means I'm not getting great airflow and I've fitted a cold air feed to it to help.

Took her for a spin to make sure everything was ok and the sound is very different
Where the BMC makes a low growling noise, this filter sounds like a vacuum cleaner sucking away, lol!
Again I can't hear much noise from the TIP, and the DV sound pretty weedy but fingers crossed I get the new filter before the Nat meet.

Rang Jetex on wednesday afternoon to order my new FR-07008 and 2 days later it was delivered!! I can't believe some people have had to wait 2 weeks for theirs?

Going out to fit it in a minute and you'll be able to see the size difference with what I'm using now :hide:

Looking forward to the sound, as I miss the deep rumble of the BMC :bounce:

Righto... Old one off and as I said this was from my 1.4. I must've been starving the engine some what, although No faults were thrown up!?

It needs to be moved over nearer the wing to help with heat soak, but I have two cold air feeds directed at it for the moment...

Certainly brightens things up! Undecided whether to re-use the metal elbow but cut it down to place it near the wing, or get a red 45° eblow and have the MAF straight onto the filter so I have a long red tube running to it??

Haven't driven it yet but picking the g/f up in a bit so give it a go then!

Thanks for the comments chaps! Yeah dead pleased with it, makes a hell of a noise to the point my g/f said "what the hell was that?" and she doesn't notice these things normally!! Sucks like hell and I can hear the turbo spooling and dv 'chirping' as it's on back to front! :funk: Not a lot of low down noise, but I can live with that.

Wish I could get my k03s and de-cat fitted before the meet, but I only have 1 day off before the meet and that's for cleaning!! Will be mapped and everything for Edition tho! ;)

The rocker cover needs a going over again as I'm not happy with the finish, should have been mat black but high temp spray came out very wrong...
