Hi Guys,

I had my tdi revo'd going back a few months and my insurance is now due for renewal so I am expecting a reasonable price increase. To complicate matters I am also moving into a postcode area which has high thefts.

The cheapest ive found is from churchill who are want nearly 1300 pounds!!. Now while that may be fine for some people, i am 34, and have 9 years no claims so just cant understand it.

Does anyone have any recommendations on insurance companies that may be able to offer a lower quote(i have searched on here, and gone through the listed ones but they either dont cover me because its modified or are even higher).

Thanks in advance

Thanks guys, elephant is nearly 1500 quid, and adrian flux wont cover revo cars now, they only cover modified cars that have a max modified bhp increase of 10%, at least thats what i was told on the phone today..

greenlight, sky insurance, adrian flux - all three cover modified cars.

Adrian Flux only quoted me an extra £100 on premium for revo... that was about a month ago. Never said anything about 10% increase tho?

Yea mate, i have done, but i suspect with me moving to liverpool 9, even though its secure parking, barrier in and out, and cc tv, by the nature of being covered with the postcode its sky high and greenlight dont cover some areas of liverpool.

My current insurance isnt up until close of business monday. I have pm'd neil so lets see if he can beat kwik fit

Pabs, no idea mate, thats just what they said before, maybe the policy has changed as insurers seem to be much more strict than I would have thought, especially in light of my perfect no claims and driving history.

I did make it clear that it was a 25% bhp increase not just 25 bhp, as he initially thought i meant just 25 bhp, once i made it clear he said sorry, we cant cover you as its over 10% increase.

Do we have any adrian flux reps on these boards by any chance?

why do people declare revo? its invisible lol

im not one to promote not declaring mods, and i will always lay in to people who dont declare mods to there car as thats one of the reasons why we all pay high premiums, but having your insurance inflated for something that is invisible, wont be found etc, wont have any effect on anything as quite simply, it wont be found

OMG! 1300, even 900 quid is a lot of money for revo'd diesel!

I have similar situation NCB over 10 years pay nothing like the amount you're being quoted for a petrol (180) unmodified -my insurance is up for renewal too, but best quotes I've had is £344-£379 and that was Norwich Union. Give them a try...

http://www.norwichunion.com/car-insurance/index.htm

Out of interest do you know what your quote is without mods (revo)?

Interestingly this year and last Norwich Union worked out much cheaper for me whereas in previous years with the V5 Toledo or alfa they were very expensive!
and places like Sainsburys, E sure, etc were cheaper...but not anymore.

I totally agree, i would'nt encourage these companies, insurance is a license to print money imo. say you are a good boy and you declare everything, then you have to make a claim, they will still f*ck you about.:banned:

Greenlight told me to add a revo which took my FR to 190 would be another 100 a year and i would defininitely tell them about it, your mad if you dont, whats a hundred wuid of so against them not paying out on a 12-15 grand car if its goes belly up. Im tellying you they will find out they are well aware of the chipping scene.

impossible, even the dealer cant see it, it doesnt show on any diag equipment

the only way they could know is driving it, and if it was crashed it wouldnt be drivable anyway.

Believe me i know people in the business and these so called inspectors really dont have a clue.

Besides i have an sps3 if i was really that concerend id just flick it back to std :p

That's BS :censored:

£320 extra for what...I blame these companies for saying you will get 30+bhp increase with a FMIC

It's not going to happen
