Hey! Question.... the resonator delete pipe for the Cupra 300. Can this be done as a straight swap without effecting the car in terms of, do I need to map the car with the res delete pipe fitted, will the pipe cause issues with fueling or performance if not mapped?

Not settling for a turbo back system or mapping at the moment and would like something a bit more from the Zorst note and these delete pipes sound great.

Advice welcome...

Hi, I’ve recently had the res delete done on my Cupra 300. It’s a straight swap (original exhaust needs to be cut once, and resonator delete pipe is then clamped both ends). No effect on fuel economy or performance, and it doesn’t need to be remapped. Hope this helps

Oh, and it sounds frickin’ awesome

It’s hardly any louder when you’re driving normally, but give the throttle a little tickle and people will hear you coming

Here we go again! Just out of curiosity you said that yours was a lease wasn’t it? Is that where you have to hand it back at the end or is it similar to my PCP? Anyway I was wondering because I was unsure whether or not you are allowed to add modifications to a car that isn’t technically yours? Struggling to get hold of my dealer so need some answers to this as it’s the only thing stopping me from getting the resonator delete!

The basic rule of thumb for all this kind of stuff is that by the letter of the law, you should not be making modifications to a car you do not 100% own. The leasing company is well within its rights to charge you for this stuff when you hand it back. With PCP its the same if you plan in handing the car back at the end of the agreement, if you plan on buying it out it will only really affect your resale. They are not going to be coming around checking your car so its usually fine to do mods here and there. Your main concern will be warranty and insurance, you will be voiding the warranty of any modified parts and possibly, parts affected by it (i.e resonator will void entire exhaust warranty, lowering springs may void shocks, suspension bushings and bearings). Undeclared mods will void your insurance in the case of an accident leaving you extremely vulnerable to massive costs. Mod at your own risks essentially.

Forgive my ignorance but would this still be possible/have the same effect on the M19 CUPRA?

Not sure what the exhaust changes means for things like this.

Absolutely pointless asking a SEAT dealer if you can modify a car. they will say No even if you own it 100% outright.

Mine said I could on my pcp which was good. If the bits modified were not seat parts I'd either have to go back to stock or pay a sum for them to apparently. This only comes into effect when you simply hand it back, if you trade it in you can send it back however you want to.

He was the one who recommended that I get the resonator delete in the first place as he has had it done on his cupra lol

Even on a lease if you wanted the resonator delete as long as you put it back to standard for it getting picked up at the end of lease nobody would have a clue. It goes straight to an auction anyway.

So as long as nothing goes wrong and don’t need to the warranty to be covered it should be okay come the end of the agreement? As if I wanted to keep it then it’s no problem at all but if I wanted to give it back I’m able to reverse it?

Yeah it won't cause any problems at all. Take it to an exhaust shop with a good reputation near you (ask on here) tell them you want it so that it's reversible and you can get it changed back over. Keep the old bit of exhaust for when you need it and it'll get welded or bolted back on.

I also had this done on my 300 2 months ago. I am interested to see how you get on with yours as mine has become increasingly louder to the point where its pretty unbearable and i am contemplating putting the res back on. The motorway drone is getting louder and the pops and bangs are ridiculous. I have had the pipe checked and its fine with no leaks. I have a hunch that the baffles in the rear box are getting destroyed

That’s interesting to know if indeed the baffles are being destroyed then if you put the res back on it may sound louder then original?

Looking to get this done on my 280 cupra as well! Any recommended places in Hertfordshire?
