Right I took the plunge and took the transmitter out of my second seat key and put it in the new flip key, now the key works fine and starts the car, but the instructions I have on how to program the key to work the central locking does not:confused:

Is there anymore instructions lurking around instead of these ones?

Seat Key Fob Programming

Remote Control Programming (1997 ON)
Procedure

1. Switch Ignition ON with new key and leave the key in the ignition.
2. Mechanically lock the vehicle using the Drivers door using a second key.
3. Using the remote control press the Unlock button once, and the horn will sound once.
4. Wait 6 seconds and press the unlock button once to activate the coding procedure. The remote control will now be programmed.

NOTE: When performing programming on additional remotes the procedure is the
same, except
you press the unlock button 2, 3 or 4 times for the different remote.
For example : If programming 2 remotes press the unlock button twice with a 1 second interval between each press, repeat for 3 and 4 remotes.

5. Switch Ignition OFF.
6. Remove key from ignition and check for operation.
7. The coding procedure can be repeated up to 4 times for additional remotes.
8. The ignition must be switched OFF between programming each remote control.

Remote Control Erasing (1997 ON)
Procedure

1. Switch Ignition ON and leave the key in the ignition.
2. Mechanically lock the vehicle using the Drivers door using a second key.
3. Press the remote control unlock button 5 times in 1 second intervals. A short horn will sound.
4. Wait 6 seconds and press the unlock button once to activate memory erase.
5. Switch ignition OFF, all remotes are now tuned in.

Try this:

- car is locked
- unlock with normal key manually at drivers doorlock
- IGN ON with normal key ... leave it there
- use NEW remote key to lock the car manually at drivers doorlock
- remove remote key from doorlock
- press "lock" at the NEW key, indicator lights will flash
- then hold the "unlock" für ~3 sec. and indicators will flash long and the doors should unlock
- coding procedure should be successfully finished.

Described in our board and confirmed several times ...

greets ... Klaus

So what if you have de-locked your car?
I am unable to manually unlock/lock the car... this is why I am purchasing another remote key fob.

I have a brand new two button key fob plip, with uncut blade.

Would you know how much it will cost to programme the transponder so that it can operate the immobiliser.

Dealer price is extortionate. I live in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
Is anyone able to do it or can you recommend anyone that can.

First post on this forum.
joined mainly to say Thanks to Klaus for his simple instructions - just bought our leon and only had one remote so bought a second one and instructions i had didn't work. So did a quick search and found this thread and Klaus's instructions worked a treat now have two working remote fobs - now just need to either get transponder coded to immobiliser or if SEAT decide to charge two much will just swap over from spare key.

Will have a good look round forum now i've said thanks.

I have the same problem. When I hold unlock for 3 seconds the indicators don't flash. Anyone any suggestions. This is despite the indicators flashing once after the lock is pressed.
