Hi guys just thought id make a post to tell you about whats happening with my car! :) ive got it booked in for this saturday at half 8 at a company just down the road from me called big fish tuning. Guy has run through the process on the phone and he said i will see a hp increase from 105 to between 125-130 and a torque increase from 129 lb-ft to 179 lb-ft. Car will be put on a rolling road also with graph to prove the work done. He said should take around 2 hours to get everything right. All for the price of £250 ! So really excited to get it done and see the results. I will post the results when its all done and pic of the graph.

Don't forget to tell your insurance company, You don't want to give them any reason to void your cover. They probably won't charge you very much, better safe than sorry IMO.

Has anyone from Scotland had a map done on a 1.2tsi.

Fed up waiting on Revo. They told me 6months 2years ago, and when I phoned on Wednesday there they told me 6months again. Would like to put a map on which someone has had and recomends.

nice BHP figure there ! What tourque you running and did you change any engine parts ?
And do you think it affects reliability ? Probs something I would look into only long after the warranty expired. Interested non the less tho !

Thanks, according to Awesome's rollers it was 178lb/ft I think. Although people do say -20% on that. No parts changed, just remap.

To be honest, my remap saved me forking out a fortune outside of warranty. I obviously had a leaking injector and the remap accelerated the problem. If I hadn't had the remap it probably would have gone outside of warranty and I would have been left with an expensive bill. The remap certainly didn't cause the problem anyway.
The remap can be removed for when you want it to go in the dealers for any sort of warranty work so don't worry about that! How old is your car?

Just remember that the MQ200 geabox in the 1.2 TSI is rated at 200 nm torque (147 lbf-ft), so your 179 lbf-ft is well over the top.

Does that matter? Well the 1.6 diesel engine gives 250 nm (184 lbf-ft) and they don't use the MQ200 gearbox on that engine they use the older, stronger MQ250 gearbox.

I have an ibiza FR 1.2TSI and thats the only thing putting me off re-mapping the car.

its a 1.2 single turbo engine pushing out 105 PS, I'm not sure what that is converted into BHP but its not too much less. Anyways... what I'm getting at is its probably highly strung anyway and the components in the engine would have been chosen to deal with certain tolerances. soon as you push it above its mechanical limits expect to see issues. And SEAT can tell if its been re-mapped. (from discussions I've heard on this forum)

as mentioned the gear box, its not rated to take that much power/torque. Also some people have had the 1.2 TSI on the rollers both in the ibiza/leon fabia and its producing 115/120 BHP anyway, although that could be down to the dyno/operator.

my plan is to wait... and see if anyone's car blows up. [B)]

Yes I know :) I said awesomes dyno is well known for reading over the top for torque figures. They read 1.2 x. So 178 will translate to 148lb-ft. Obviously they will have also built in a factor of safety on that too!

If they check the boost readings they will be able to tell its been remapped, yes :)

But do they do that on each check?
I always wondered that.

Simply say you do not consent to any road testing of the car.

Only way for them to be able to check is to run car and do some full throttle logging.

Same story with 1.4 TSIs they are "rated " to 185lbft coincidentally exactly what VW/Seat say the engine produces. On rollers with an induction kit mine was making more than that and mappped they take even more power without issue until you get to around 240+ torque.

So I wouldnt worry too much about that in my opinion.

Jay,
I think you may have missed the point. VAG don't use the small MQ200 1.2 TSI gearbox on an engine that produces 250 nm torque, they use a stronger one. Perhaps the reason is that the MQ200 box isn't strong enough to stand 250 nm. Can you think of another reason?

Im not versed well in the gearboxes minus the DSG in the 1.4 tsi. Money/weight saving would be my only other option/s

You could well be right, you probably know more about them than myself. Just saying VAG's word isnt always the truth, just what they want you to think.

My car has been mapped now for about six months and has never given any trouble. Power is much better across the rev band and mpg is better as well. No complaints whatsoever :) pic shows gains
