Hi i had the exact same problem last week. My problem was caused by the pipe from the washer bottle seperating at a joint in the pipe.
Open your bonnet and get somone else to operate the rear window washer have a look at the corner nearest the bulkhead for water on the passenger side thats where the pipe had seperated on mine.
I ended up having to take the airfilter box out to get access to the pipe. When i got too it i put a small drop of fairy liquid on the join end and then clipped it back together.

Get someone else to squirt the rear washer and you can look under the bonnet with a torch for the end that the waters coming from.

Depending on which engine model you have, you could well struggle to find the other half... it gets caught down by the ABS unit, take the air box out to gain access, then pop it back together. I do this all the time on these. The biggest problem is people that use cheap screenwash. it blows the joins because the fan jets get bloaked. Use the v.a.g stuff, it cleans the best and smells nice as well as keeping your fan jets clear

HOLY C**p,

I've spent most of the afternoon today sortin out leakin pipes for screenwash back and front.

Yeah realised summat were wrong at back window ,so checked pipe was on after poppin off boot door trim..all ok. so, then noticed water drippin from rear of inside roof trim, found leak to be in the pipe work which goes from main body of car to boot door at the top right. The the plastic was broken, sendin water gushing down the right hand of the car into the backlights on the right causin, most probably, the earthin problems i've had with lights on that side for over a year . partially sorted a bridge to join the broken plastic now!
Then testing the back washer out, the front pipwork must have decided to pop apart and all the water started leakin at the front. To join the pipe together was nigh on impossible , as someone stated the joint midway down the bulkhead is obscured by other gizmo's and i could feel both pipe ends ,but with only enough space for one hand. i thought about removing the airfilter, but it did'nt look like it would make much difference. anyhow working underneath the car i manged to put a long piece of plastic tubing over the shortest bit of pipework , quite solidly as it took ages to get the tube mouth over some sort of stop, around the pipework. then connected the other end of tube to the more accessible bit of pipe from the top of car engine. Hopefully, the amount of force used to put this tubing on will make it a better bet than the OE.

Could'nt test it as i ran outta daylight and patience.

They shouldn't really get clogged up (unless your missing the mesh over the filler pipe ;) ), it tends to be the weather that causes it, when it freezes. Your best bet is just water, maybe with some screenwash in, but there should be no needs for any sort of dedicated cleaning fluid. :D
