@Rusty2k

How much did you pay for 2nd hand one? Could you let me know the part no. for the rear passenger side door lock please?

Was it straight forward to change over?

This is the route I want to take as plan on selling the car next year anyway.

Well I've just swapped both my rear door lock modules. It's about half an hour for each if you know what you are doing. You will need spline drive bits to remove the 2 bolts holding the module to the door. If you prise out the cloth part of the door card you can get the module out without removing the whole door card. It's a bit fiddly to undo the connection to the outer handle.
I paid £40 ish per module second hand from eBay. Both working fine now.

Is this the right part for the rear drivers side door? The guy hasn't got an item code for it

"THE PART YOU RECEIVE MAY NOT BE THE ACTUAL PART IN THE PHOTO" - so, you should ask seller, but there is lock for right door on photo.

hi, I just bought a mk2loen FR 170 and have problem with both passenger said doors. Anymore solutions ? Thanks

I had a good try yesterday. You need some skill to disassemble, but problem was solved. There was a bad contact for one of electric motors, that control outside door handle. I have some photos, I will make some marks on it and upload tomorrow or may be later.

I have a 2010 Leon, Drivers door handle stopped working a few times in the summer but began working until this week when also the rear passenger door handle has failed - assume its to do with the damp weather and the electrics in the lock

The pictures would be useful to look at if you have them

Hi, everyone! Sorry, I was busy for some days, but here is my photos (I put in my cloud to make them alive for a long time, so only links and you should remove spaces, because of rules of this forum I need to have 15 posts to give you links). There is not all phases and parts on it, but may be the most important.

Important notice: everything you do - on your own risk. You will need some special instrument and skills.

For beginning: remove door panel (good instruction here: no1wok. co. uk/ cupra/ dpf.pdf).

To remove door lock you need M8 XZN (Spline) bit.

Door lock contains two parts: electrical and mechanical. To separate them you should remove all screws and disclose electrical part (it has some glue or sealant, so do it carefully and with some metal flat tool). Why? These two part connected by two details: one of this can be left inside electrical part and disconnected from mechanical without any problems (position 2 on photo), but another one (position 1) hard to disconnect (I broke my one, hard to repair) and so you should left it in mechanical part but extract it from electrical.

Here some photos to understand how it works at all.

yadi .sk/i/H9dWWOw_kEd5G (arrow 1 for inside and 2 for outside).

These three photos show door lock in "lock-position":
yadi .sk/i/9HoMTfIakEdBk
yadi .sk/i/v0XMkx_GkEdDj
yadi .sk/i/WjRS-elxkEdE2

These two photos show door lock in "unlock-position"
yadi .sk/i/uIpAs-hkkEdGm
yadi .sk/i/cAz5AYAukEdH9

This photo show electrical part inside (without motors):

My recommendation: after removing lock from door take away a cover of mechanical part (one screw) connect lock to 12v of car (or another source) and check, how it works for you. In addition do the same thing after assembling of lock, before installing it in the door.

For me problem was in bad contact for electrical motor. I assembled all back after checking that motor working good (connect to 12v only electrical part) and it was ok for some days, but now (may be after some shakes on the road during driving) it doesn't work again. I will try again, may be add some layer between motor and housing to make motor position stronger. Therefore, if you need more photos (or even video) I can make it for you next time.

Hello again..

This problem simply went away all summer long - and started again a couple of weeks ago!

So by power of deduction (!) I am assuming either moisture of temperature is a factor..

Not take any resolving actions as yet but thanks very much for some of the replies which do seem to suggest a cause and potential fix!

I don't have too much to add here apart from mines a 2007 FR and I had the exact same problem as detailed by the OP. Intermittent but gradually got worse - especially in cold weather.
Swapping the rear locks out sorted it and only took about half hour or so per side. Just make sure you have the spline bits - I assumed they were Torx the first time and ended up driving around with no door cards for a few days till I found some.
You def need this guide - http://www.no1wok.co.uk/cupra/rdp.pdf
And you need some luck on EBay!!

This definitely a 5yr+ problem on Leon 1P, it seems pretty standard that the locks pack in somewhere between 5th and 7th birthday....
