Converted the USD @ 1.95

BTW, thats the total cost, not just the shipping cost.

Looking at the kit again, you dont get the bit that curves over the dash/tacho binicle, so I'm now not impressed.

Thats the bit i meant.... would look fantastic if that was in the kit too, but without it the remaining bit of dash would stick out like a pork sausage at a barmitzvah!!!!!

True but you would be lucky to get one piece of genuine carbon fibre for the price of this whole kit...

Huh? What size piece are we talking.
If you unroll a £30 fishing rod there is a fair amount there.
Or my £40 carbon handlebars.

It seems to be only expensive on things are arn't mass produced (like anything) but with carbon it's much higher.

I am talking about the full cost as well. Can you give me a link to the item?

Sorry but I don't follow you what bit ("the bit that curves over the dash/tacho binicle") do you mean ?

The bit that covers the dash, the curved shaped piece.... if i was to get the kit for my FR i would want all the pale blueish bits covered and that HUGE piece is missing from the kit unfortunately....

It's basically a sunscreen over the speedo, tacho etc.

I agree.
But the issue of whether the buttons would end up recessed would put me off.
If the carbon is so thin that the buttons arn't recessed and the tape/glue is good then it's never going to come off with destroying it.
Before I bought the Leon I'd always planned to get something made up in brushed aluminium. But I never got round to it! The stereo and heater would be ok, it was just the 'binnacle' that was the problem.

I reckon if its 3M stuff it would stick like **** to a blanket, but with the right removal liquid you could get it all off... there stuff is top notch in my experience... agree about the recess thing though it would have to be pretty thin to look any good.... also would have to fit my satnav too!!!!

Also the curved "missing" bit goes down the side and is part of the centre piece so what happens there, hw does the centre bit join the curved side bit ? will look a bit dodgy i reckon ...

I agree. And if you look at the photo's originally posted, it looks as if the edge profile is a curved bevel, which makes me think that these are quite thick... They may be 'real' carbon fibre but it looks as if they have a thick vinyl covering...

I don't think these are any different to the vinyl coverings of yesteryear other than they may now have genuine carbon fibre as opposed to some dodgy print...

Perhaps the OP could photograph them a bit better - without a flash... a comment on the thickness. Its a lot of money to splurge for somethign that may look terrible...

jdearden as you said it, not even if it was hand made would have taken that long! I still haven't taken delivery of my car (ordered it on 30th of June). I've learned that my car will be manufactured in week 38 of the year, so it will be built approximately between 15th and 19th of September, so hopefully I'll get it in mid October. If you are eager to see the carbon trims, imagine how eager I am to see my car

I really do feel for you Ares! Well I hope it arrives soon for you! You're right, even we other forum members are eagerly anticipating the arrival of your car so we can see the carbon! I'm sure the car will be worth the wait. All the best
