You don't need a 4wd conversion to utilise more power
If you were to have a got for example gt2860, you could make a good 340-350 without pushing the turbo hard, giving longevity
It may just be me, but ive never rated the hybrids and to make good power they are pushed hard and wont last anywhere near as long

I've never been a hybrid fan, but these seem to be making decent power these days. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see how it does once mapped

The problem is we all believe what we read and although i'm not a huge fan of the relentless build quality it has had some BS bantered around about the lack of flow on a V3 compared to V2. Its not true imho since it looks like its a better flowing manifold in terms of runner routes and no of welds etc... the flow path looks better. What is unforgivable though is apparantly the ports of the manifold flange doesn't line up perfectly with that of the engine exhaust ports and some require a little porting.
I think the reason you haven't felt much if any in the butt dyno is the stock mani manages perfectly well with stage 2 power levels but it does hold power back at hybrid power levels.The difference between a good stage 2 car and a decent hybrid setup is very noticeable, you have alot of fun to look forward to. :)

Fair point mate, it'll be interesting to see how it gets on, just wish I had all the parts now so I could get them fitted and take it for a remap. I was always considering collecting parts for a setup change but didn't think I'd be buying the turbo first. For the price though this was a bargain :)

I use the voltage progressive kit and use the maff as its trigger. The kit you've highlighted is most common but you need to tap a boost source and i found those controllers to be very unreliable. Some use only a basic boost switch with the basic kit so that when the desired level of boost is reache it supplies full dosage. The only downfall with this on our fast spooling K04's is you have to generally run a smaller nozzel to prevent bogging down early in the rev range.

Saturday I went to do a few testing runs with the Trackslag K04 charge pipe. This has been developed to aid flow from the turbo to the intercooler, the pipe work is 2.5", the 90 degree bend has been shallowed out (if thats the correct phrase :ponder:), the dint to clear the rocker cover has gone and you only need a short piece of silicone to connect it to the turbo Which does away with the red 90 degree elbow). It comes in a brushed finish.

Here's a couple of camparison pics against the forge pipe I was running (apologies for the crappy iPhone pics):





Due to the change in the bend, you've got to modify the top bracket and by that I mean chop this much off:



It comes with bigger straps as the OEM ones will no longer fit however the engine cover does still go on:



It also does clear the rocker without the dint:



Out on the road we did back to back logs (Forge vs Trackslag), I've not got the logs but will post a link once they're on the facebook site. With the Trackslag charge pipe it got 2g/s more airflow (not massive but every little helps), I also noticed the car seemed to run smoother (no it wasn't in my head) and the boost flutter I had previously had gone as flow had been aided.

I'm still running this charge pipe as I'm happy with it. If anyone is considering a different charge pipe to the OEM one, this is the one I'd go for. The Forge one offers no gains but this does. Once the BBT hybrid K04 is fitted we'll be logging it again so watch this space (I think bigger gains will be seen with a hybrid).

What clutch have we gone for then? :)

Yeah I'm happy with it, Matt is a top bloke too.

Getting the clutch from CG Motorsport in Leeds, heard mostly good things, but like everything you'll always get bad reviews. It's SMF should be good for 400 ft/lbs

Thought I'd stick a quick progress update on here.

I ordered the WMI kit and injectors on the weekend, the clutch is sitting in the house, I've ordered a Badger 5 high flow exhaust manifold and Bill also has the turbo to machine the hotside to aid flow :)
Shouldn't be too long now till it all gets put together.

In other news, due to the disgrace that are Englands modern roads I've wound the front coilovers up to 64cm (15mm up from where they were) so the car now sits 64 all round although I may need to wind the back up slightly. The rear anti roll bar has also been adjusted and is now on the middle setting to try and soften the back end up abit and stop it stepping out so much. I'd originally set it up like that on purpose but with the diff it's magnified how much it swings out.

With that charge pipe, does it mean that you can't use the original silicone hose off the end of it?
I have the forge one, but it starts to get pricey if I need to buy a new one of them too
