what about the way it mounts on different cars?will it fit the ibiza ?or have fitted it to a mk3 golf 16v and said"yep it fits all abf engines"isn't there more of a clearance issue on the ibiza/cordoba???steering system for one.

IMO the condition of the engine mounts is key to getting tubular manifolds to last - those without bellows before the bulkhead bend anyhow - I have got a full set of race compound vibratechnics engine mounts and my engine dont move much so, touchwood, the manifold should last.

the Supersprint LHD-only ibiza road manifold had flexi-joints and was a 4-2-1 design so it can be done:

And refreshingly supersprint show dyno figs before and after:

2L 16V Before - 155hp @ 6340, 177Nm @ 4500
2L 16V After - 174hp @ 6290, 188Nm @ 4560

supersprint 2L 16V

1.8 16V Before - 138hp @ 6300, 152Nm @ 6270
1.8 16V After - 167 @ 4730, 176Nm @ 4510

Supersprint 1.8 16V

This is with manifold, no kat and 2 piece system - so 19hp (12%) gain, but a lot of this may come from kat removal and some will come from system....quite how much is from the manifold itself is anyones guess. I have trouble believing the 29hp gain from the 1.8.

And yes -the area where the manifold goes between the bulkhead and steering rack id very tight on an ibiza - looks like thats where the flexi joints are on the supersprint also so perhaps thats why the TSR one dont have them

Bosal also do a 2L 16V manifold - LHD also

Bosal header

They reckon 8-12% gain when combined with a system and no cat

This looks almost exactly like the milltek one I have

Right, I now have that manifold in my possesion. Was being quoted £450-£600 for a one off by many companys dotted around the UK

Couple of things, It's not pre-drilled for lambda sensor as per description - no biggy for me, certainly a biggy for those with only a basic tool kit, trolley jack, stands etc. The hole centres for the exhaust studs arnt that accurate/oversized, it needs a little persuasion for it to slide along the studs.

The rest of it is superb, nicely excecuted tig welds (perhaps a little on the small side) and is highly polished - shame it'll be covered in exhuast wrap.

The other thing is I think it was made in the far east - orientle scribble on packaging.

Looks good stu - whats the diameter of the pipe coming out of the collector and also the diameter of the primaries and length of primaries ?

Watch exhaust wrap - it eats stainless and doesnot last very long - mine was totally shagged and falling off in 1yr - eventually had it 4 layer ceramic coated by a firm called camcoat in warrington

re lambda placement - I fitted a small 90 degree bend in collector and screwed probe in so it was parallel to exhaust - clearance is an issue otherwise

Cheers

Primary diameter is 43mm, Pipe diameter from collecter is 60mm, not that far off 2.25".
Primary lengths are around 12" one of them is around 15"

lambda probe placement will go where it can I think - by the company who will be fitting a whole new bespoke stainless system including sports cat some time in the new year.

Forgive me if I am wrong but I vaguely remember seeing a TSR ad in a Golf+ or PVW type mag several months back stating tubular exhaust maniflds for tall block ABF engines ...

Is that the manifold from TSR Performance that is for sale on eBay? I'm thinking of getting very soon.
