Made a nice job there!

Can't help noticing that your struts are the other way up to the Russin kit, I'm sure i was told once that the body should be up with the shaft below so it lubricates it.

Also not that it should matter the fixing on your brackets is on the inside not the outside.

I fitted the Russin kit over a year ago now and trimmed the part of the foam nearer the front of the car and the strut has moulded this quite nicely now.

But I have issues, more one side than the other with the brackets twisiting. It looks like the strut body higher up and the bracket push in to the foam and the pressure turns the bracket, no matter how tight i do the bonnet nuts up... and i mean tight!

You can see the imprint in my photos...

I'm just curious. This mod, which looks great BTW, is it only for aesthetics or for function too..
As the way I see it, you now have 2 things in the way while working on a car instead of one.

For me function and the fact VAG have removed them to save money, compared to say my MK5 Golf prevoiusly. They soon pop off if needed and I left the original rest (it's a pain to remove/refit)

I don’t think it matters which way the gas strut is fitted. Regards to the bracket twisting I fitted my brackets so it butts up with the bonnet bracket so there is no possibility of movement.

I think the brackets I had supplied didn't quite butt up tight, so I packed them out and used very good doubled sided tape to both sides of the packing and the face, I think it will snap the stud if I go any tighter on the nuts!

Whether it's the pressure from the gas strut or the foam or both.

Looks like need to mod the slot in the brackets!

The Russian brackets only butt up against 2/3 of the face of the cars bracket, while as yours AFM are butted all the way along the bracket.

I shall re-engineer some!

If they are coming from China wipe them over ;)
Yes different bracket maybe better than Russian ones. Notice how the listing has a picture from the Russian sellers car in their ad/video!

Note the original fixing nuts in the factory bonnet bracket are not inline. It's not clear if the grey/brown Leon in the pictures is actually fitted with these but I can see the wing fitting position is different to the Russian kit.

it’s my car, grey 2017 fr 184 And it’s not fitted as standard
It’s a lot more secure with 2 bolts than 1 so it should last quiet a while, it’s definitely worth it for £34.99!

I thought we were buying it not selling it! When you said you 'found it' ...

A simple mod which I always enjoy when I (infrequently) open the bonnet! I cut the foam, to easy not to do.

Update on mine. Got so fed up with the brackets in the Russian kit twisting, even when using double sided tape in addition....

So I got myself some aluminium angle, made some holes, hacksaw and file....these will not move. Took me back to my apprentice days.

Here is some close pictures so you can see clearly...

It's nice when you have tools and place to work :)
Mine have no problems, couple of years since installed. Maybe it depends on how much one drives/opens the bonnet.
