registrationstation.co.uk - if u dont want to use the web he is based in Newcastle NE15 9RU but you just take your docs to him, he fills in a couple of forms and sends it off - a week later ur pressed plates arrive in the post direct from dubmeister to your door you pay him then and there too.

i ran german style pressed plates for a year or so before i went passed a vosa van 30 quid fine - so i searched him out on the net but went down in person, as i didnt fully trust sending docs over the internet.

Thanks for the info, only 3 min drive for me...rather that than info over the net. Need new plates, mine are a little worse for wear.

pressed plates are illegal full stop just so you know in this country. The fine now is £60 and a report to the DVLA FYI

Don't be so brazen about your statements, unless you know 100% sure what your saying is accurate! Cause now you've made yourself look like an idiot!

Pressed plates are legal, as long as they are A. Reflective, so speed camera's can pick them up! B. Spacing and font is adhered to so that ANPR camera's can read them C. White at front yellow at back!

Hmmm an extremely brazen statement from yourself too. Being a serving traffic officer with slightly more experience and training and then a trainee officer I have dealt with what could be described as few number plate offences. I am yet to ever see a number that is pressed in metal having the BS mark showing, the manufacturer ID showing and also having a reflective backing. And further more a textured number plate is not allowed, I would either read up a bit more or have a chat with the DVLA.

For Anyone reading other then the above apologies for sounding like a ****!

Just gunna refer you to this.........

There is probably about 8 different " serving officers" posted saying they're legal!

Still wanna argue? hmmmm nahhhh

May be nothing specific said about pressed plates but as long as they comply with "BS AU 145d" Then they could be made out of wood!

Because it's on the internet -it must be true...

To be honest, a normal "legal" plate is far more grown up.

Pressed plates are a grey area if taken by DVLA guidelines they are illegal but if they conform to BS standards then they are legal. One day someone will make sure they get taken to court as a test case and we shall have the definitive answer.

Some Police officers will see them as illegal some will not but as said above look a little more grown up and you are less likely to get pulled or get queries come MOT time.

I got pulled over for mine because the old bill said they weren't reflective enough, so when he was driving towards my they didn't show up very well. I don't think he was too bothered by the font although they are illegal. Plus £60 each time has put me off. And I think if you car stopped for the same thing 3 times it might become more than a fine.
