Power steering headache

Trying to help my son fix his car, started off with intermittend PAS, light on dash with engine running which would clear after a few mins.

Taken to garage, codes read;

U111100 - Function restriction due to missing message - Passive, sporadic
01309 - Power steering control module - No signal

So far;

Have changed pump​

Have changed battery​

Have checked fuses above battery and all seem fine​

We have not coded the new pump, but google suggests that the PAS should still work but a light remain on the dash?

All codes are clear, drove for 20 mins and no new codes.

Currently seeking a VCDS locally for a proper scan.

Does anyone have any thoughts? could it be coding issue?
