sounds like you were very lucky indeed, soaked intake and filter and no damage.

in hindsight id say if there is worry about water ingress then turning it over to see if it works is not the best approach.
Im no mechanic, but id say at the least you would need to do something like remove spark plugs, drain, and then turn over with sparks plugs removed to clear water?

anyway glad its all ok.

It wasn't that I was turning it over to see if it worked I was just round a blind bend in the pissin down rain in the pitch black at rush hour and I panic'd!! Well seat had it for two days and they have given it the all clear!!they reckoned it was just the air filter and box that was sodden!!
If water had gone down into the engine it wouldn't compress and goodbye engine!!
Going to change the oil again in a couple thousand miles just cos I'm anal and cos the old man wants me to!!
