Did you use normal laquer? I would have thought you need high temp stuff?

I didn't know there was such a product

just did mine today used some wet and dry paper gave them 4 coats of clear now they look new only took me an hour as well

dont know if it will work with burn't ones

did you take a piccy of them before? mine are quite bad
also, what lac did you use?

Yep took the pads out cleaned and degreased masked everything up and clear coated them, left them to bake in the sun !

Ok, sounds pretty simple, apart from the taking the pads out bit
I've never touched the brakes before so i'm a little nervous but might give it a go

So a dummies guide goes like this?
1) Losen nuts
2) jack up front of car
3) take off wheel(s)
4) ?? take out pads ?? (any tutorials on this or instructions?)
5) Degrease and clean
*EDIT: carefully remove flakes and Use P1200 wet and dry paper to prep surface
6) mask the whole area
7) spray with Hycote clear Lacquer
8) bake in sun
9) put pads back in etc...

thats the way i did it, use Axle stands as well its better than just using a jack, i used standard clear coat and then left to dry

How long did you give it to dry? Normal lacquer takes 24 hours before it's completely dry, so did you leave it that long?

nope couple of hours put the wheels on then left it till this morning drove to work and its sat there ever since ,

Excellent. I suppose leaving it overnight does the trick really.

I knew they were bad but they look even worse with a big picture

yes they were just make sure you use P1200 and take your time removing the flaking top coat

I'm still in the process of trying to find a company who is willing to professionally refub' my Brembos. I want a slight colour change too when I get it done but not many people are willing to do it for me

If you find a good place mate post up the details as im after getting mine refurbed as the fronts are falcking and the backs are fooooked so was thinking of going Yellow!

ok i've ordered the clear coat stuff
Got 2 can for £6, Dont get it off ebay its way expensive with postage, think i got it from 4wheels ?? (cant remember)

anyway, I need to get the p1200 wet and dry ( i assume halfords or b&q sell this) ?
and i need to get some degreaser, this is where i need some help, which stuff do i get and where do i get it from?

I'm hoping to do a tutorial on this for us novices

Halfords sell plenty of de-greaser products. 'Gunk' is quite good, but there are others. Usually in the car cleaning section.
