my dad took my car out and it needed petrol so he put a tenner of normal petrol 95 octane in, but the car is used to Vpower superunleaded etc. the tank was almost empty when he put it in but five miles after he put it in the amber engine light came on and im guessing its because of the petrol change. this mornin i tried to dilute it a bit by puttin a tenner of Vpower but the light is still on? has this happened to anyone before ?

When you change fuels, the ecu does take a little bit of time to adjust to the different octane levels and change the combustion accordingly. When the 95 went in, the ecu would probably have still been on v-power settings, so may have burnt the 95 a bit quicker, before it changed settings.

When my cupra is nearly empty (actually ran out of gas on the garage forecourt and had to push the 5 metres to the pump the other day!!) a tenner doesn't last long:(

it wont have anything to do with the lower octane, this wont cause a fault light.

the ecu will need at least 3 tanks to adjust the settings to lower octane, not a tenners worth...

need to get it scanned to show the fault code, but i can definatly say it wont be the fuel

Well i disconnected the battery yesterday to sort out my folding mirrors problem and it worked plus the fault light has now dissapeared too! but i still wanna get it plugged in as the car dont seem as fast as ppl say theyre supposed to but it could just be me expecting too much lol.
