pd100 to pd130?

I'm wanting some more power from my PD100, but i know it's unlikely i could get it seeing above 150+bhp for even a lot of money. So i'm wondering whats different between the PD130 and the PD100? As i'm considering getting the PD130 turbo and injectors for mine, but have no clue if anything else is needed as well? Mine is a 5speed, but so are the older 130bhp sports I think so hopefully wouldn't be an issue. I could just trade it in for an FR but i love the car, especialy now i've started getting it looking how I want it, and an FR with similar spec & mileage will probs cost me £2.5k + after trading mine in. I've already been quoted for the fitting of the turbo / injectors & it aint a bad price, so i'd just have to find some then. Hopefully i won't have any other major bits to change

Any help would be appreciated :)

tbh mate it would work out cheaper getting the FR I reckon that upgrading the PD100. But as you say if you love it then get it, but remember the FR comes with ESP and climate control, rear disks etc.

and the cost of upgrading the clutch, injectors and turbo would be more than £2500 I reckon anyway, when you factor in mapping and labour.

easily possible, use 130 turbo, injectors, inlet manifold, then 160 airbox etc and will be vertually same as a 130...but without the 6 speed box...which is only really for cruising on motorway...

the existing box will cope fine, i would get it done....

PM coming your way later matey ;)

But as said matey, easy to do and if you know someone who is upgrading their PD130 turbo and injectors then its alot cheaper ;)

hmmm..i'm gonna certainly look into getting it done then, the clutch is the same on the PD100 and PD130 isn't it? Will most likely need an uprated one anyways when i go for another map, but wouldn't have to do that part straight away, can just aim at getting the 130 parts in first.

Yeah mate, my standard clutch lasted over 54,000 miles with no problem. Didnt even have any slip when I uprated it!

Will talk to you in the pub anyway tonight :)

All PD130's are 6-Speed boxes.

Would be better off getting an older TDI Sport or Pre-facelift FR I think.

Did this get done in the end?
My mate has a PD100 golf 6 speed and is looking at doing this as his turbo has gone :/

How much would all these bits cost? not inc the PD130 turbo

A lot of people will quote big bhp figures from rollers to make there motors look good. Honestly for the hassel your mate is probably best just getting a cheap PD100 turbo.

Injectors will cost you a bomb new and will likely need to be picked up second hand, turbo obviously will need picking up as well and these are both items that could do with a proper check over before fitting. Inlets manifold, clutches im sure these are all different thats before someone comes along with the internal differences that would bring reliability into question. It soon becomes expensive to make a PD130 and much cheaper to buy one even when repairing.

I agree, enjoy the PD100 for what it is. They are surprisingly fun to drive with just a remap, and have a SMF :), and good on fuel. As said above, it costs a lot to make a PD130, and thats before braking and suspension are taken into account.

I'd go for a bigger turbo if you can get it for a similar price, it should last better and take more abuse as it wont be stretched to it's limits. It'll also be worth something to sell on later if you scrap the car or it'd be there if you decided to go further with tuning. Make it more long term, injectors and stuff do come up now and then for reasonable money or you could always get bigger nozzles fitted to yours. Needs to be done by someone who knows what they're doing though. I think the PD 100 has better flowing injector bodies than the PD 150, hang on I'll get the link for that........here it is

Also Ryan at darkside developments is going to doing some new mega nozzles I think, drop him an email and ask his opinion.

Seem to get less boost spikes etc with a bigger turbo

For those on 5 spd boxes, the G60 flywheel and VR6 sachs kit is good but for anything half decent on the six spd is a bit pricier.

Anyway I'm a firm believer in doing what you like to your car, it's sometimes better to tune the weaker one than buy a thrashed, more expensive more powerful one. If you're good at looking after the rest of your car and you really like it then might as well stick with it.
