Passenger door won't open from outside if engine running

I often drive somewhere to pick my daughter up.
I pull over and she tries to open the door but it won't open.
Only thing I can do is switch off the engine and then the door will open.
Has something failed?
Is there anything I can do, like a childlock I can disable?
Thanks!

I notice you normally post on the Mk6 ibiza forum, what year is your car?

If it's a MK6 it will be the autolock, the doors lock automatically once you go over 10mph, two things you can do, hit the unlock button on the consol and that will open the doors. Or in the infotainment system, you can deactivate the autolock function in the vehicle setting menu.

Think you might be able to open the drivers door as an alternative but that's probably tide up with auto locking and unlocking of all doors on a toggle on the setup if like the Ateca. Auto unlock all doors toggled and just slightly open the drivers door rather than fiddling around looking for switches to let someone in... that's alternative. We do that rather than play hunt the button.
