i dont feel like being arsed to run a cable down, after having a look im thinking of tapping the 12v feed to the rear view mirror for the 2 LEDs that shine down already

All in all would people that have fitted the W8 light say that it is a worthwhile mod?
Bit paranoid about doing anything with the wiring TBH

I would say yes. I wired it up fine even though I am a complete novice, although I did use scotch-loks to join wires rather than splice them. If you are worried about it you are best searching on ebay for ones with ready made connectors (try German ebay, where I got mine from, if there's none on the UK one - although I needed the sunroof version which are harder to come by).

For a novice it's really hard to balls it up with a scotch-lok connector, on the other hand true electrics people view it as a cowboy solution. The light itself looks quality and functions well. Mine is linked to the dimmer and I felt even on maximum it does not give quite as much glow as I was expecting (but then I'm driving in areas with street lighting most of the time and it's more noticeable when it is pitch black outside). I have heard if you don't connect it to the dimmer it shines a little bit brighter?

why bother?

mods - 18 inch giovanni wheels, hydrolics variable suspension, upgraded engine to vxr monaro 500+ .... but that stuffs all boring and is nothing compared to my INTERIOR LIGHT ! find something better to spend your money on like women beer or football £40 a lot to spend on making your car look better which in my opinion when i look at a car i dont really pay particular attention to the interior light and at the risk of ****ing up your car and needing all new lining it jus int worth it imho

I don't think I've heard of anyone really screwing up like that? At the end of the day loads of people really like the mod. And for the price of one premiership game or a couple of nights on the beer vs an enhancement to your car that you can reverse and claw back on selling the light again if you choose I would (indeed have) gone for the mod.

I really wouldnt hook up the LED's to another feed. The cars electrics run at 14.4v when the alternator is running. If the LED's arent resisted/regulated enough (and they ARE sensitive) you will break them, and they would be a bugger to replace.

Give them the 8-12v they were specified id recommend

Reedbradshaw: Dont do Football and already spend lots on Beer and Women. £35 is nothing when you spend hours in your car!
