IIRC a couple of others have done this mod too - and the one thing that sticks in my mind is the warning about screw lengths when fitting the new light - I know at least one person who ended up with two small bumps in the roof because the screws were too long!

I think your referring to the sunglasses holder muddy - my W8 doesnt use screws at all! It just kinda clips in!

No it wont - 2 problems:

The dimmer wire is in a completely different place.

The plug wont work in the Ibiza - The alarm sensors are in the way (for those that have them - most of us). You need to cut the end connector and solder the wires straight onto the W8 Circuit board.

Oh well, thanks for the info. Is there a specific Ibiza guide anywhere then?

If the leon light is better and is a direct replacement for the Ibiza one, does anyone know the Seat Part Number ?

is the dimmer line necessary? does it just add the dimming light and if you dont connect it its just bright all the time or does it have to be connected to work altogether

lukey you should just buy a fabia vrs interior light, it's in carbon black and only £19 iirc, got one when I did my headlining black as they are cheaper than SEAT!

On the Leon the std light has 3 connections where as the W8 light has 4.
The 4th being the Switch/LED illumination. You need a power source for this. You can get it from anywhere to make it work or from the dimmer to make it dim. I know that on the Leon it's as easy to get it from the dimmer as anywhere else.

if the illumination (which everyone seems to get from the dimmer) is only for that (illumination) you can just as easily hook it into the other side of the 12v line thats on the plug from the original then yes, or is that a permanent live and the panel would be lit up even if the car is locked?

All in all would people that have fitted the W8 light say that it is a worthwhile mod?
Bit paranoid about doing anything with the wiring TBH

I really like it - it provides a lovely warm glow at night and the map lights are very useful. Makes the car look that bit more expensive too with the lit buttons. For £35 its a steal. :D
