I enquired about getting parking sensors fitted on my k1 before i took delivery of it, think irfan quoted me £200 ish if i remember correctly, i didnt go for them in the end but now wish i did, does anyone know where i can get aftermarket ones fitted and how much they will cost?

Aren't they all aftermarket on the K1 and Cupra?

I'd have thought any SEAT dealer could do it, otherwise I've seen them advertised on the Halford website, although I wouldn't trust Halfords to fit them to my car.

yeah i think your right they would have done them at the dealership irfan said, just wondered if there were any other companys that specialise in that sort of thing as, ive heard the seat ones are audible only where as i would prob want some sort of visual led as well, i wouldnt trust halfords to even pop my bonnet let alone fit anything.

I have the factory fit audiable ones on my TT and they're great.

Starts beeping when you are 2 foot from the object and then a constant tone when you're 1 foot away.

There are different types, like the magnetic strip that sticks to the back of the bumper, a meta targa which goes behind your number plate and the traditional 4 spot sensors I still have the meta targa that i need to fit!

I have the SEAT accessory ones on my FR and fitted them low down on the black trim to avoid painting and also because they sit out a fair bit unlike factory items which are pretty flush to the bumper. Dead easy fitted and you decide how close to an obstruction you get before the tone goes from a beep to constant. Should work even with twin exhausts as my tailpipe isnt in the way . . . .

I have aftermarket ones on the fr.Bought them from Halfords the ones that have 4 sensors and a visual display in the rear roof liner that counts down from about 1.5 metres. It was 200 quid + 14.99 for matching paint.Stealers didnt fit for less than 250 quid and said they wont colour code them because they reckon it interferes with them and they only 2 sensor ones.At Halfords you buy them then they mix the paint and colour code them and you ring the fitting guys and arrange time n date n place as they will come to your workplace if you like then go back to Halfords for the sensors a couple of days late after painting. They might be a little dearer now as I seem to recall they were free fitting when I got mine.Service and value for money was excellent but fitter was a bit of a ******** but seemed to know what he was doing. This system I would reccomend to anyone.Hope it helps.

THIS is exactly what you would get if you bought it from seat, and is the cheapest currently on fleabay.

obviously for a k1 it would need painting but so would any other system. any auto alarm place will fit it for a couple of hours worth of labour.

Ive been thinking of fitting after market ones myself, but have been told its a pain to do becase you have to connect up to the reversing light circuit which is somewhere in the boot door?..

Can anyone confirm how difficult it is?

Dead simple - pull off the inner quarter panel trim behind the passenger rear tail lamp and there is a wiring plug which feeds the lights. 2 minutes with a test lamp to identify the reversing lamp feed, and just branch off it to power up the sensors.
Hope that helps.

the most difficult part is the bumper removal.

not necessary on the FR if you fit the sensors low down on the black centre trim which clips out ;)

aghhhhh!

i gave up on mine as i understood the whole bumber needed to come off (to route the cables) and couldnt manage on my own.

still, didnt cost too much for some place to do it for me.

must confess mine didnt go exactly according to plan -
stuck a strip of masking tape across the bumper trim
marked the centre point
worked outwards from the centre point and marked the positions of the 4 sensors
drilled 5 holes
think about it
:doh::redface:

thank goodness the trim is cheap and replaceable

Exactly why I had a fitter come and do it on mine. Was done on my driveway without removing bumper and it looked simple enough to wire it up but I just thought for a couple of hundred quid what the hell.

Forgot. The 4 sensors where also fitted near the top of the bumper above the line of the number plate.Looks better there.

definitely the best place if you can get nice flush fitting sensors. mine are a bit low and pick up kerbs and even the ground if Im on a ramp or hill, but still a good job
I tried to order my FR with factory sensors but not an FR or Cupra option. Still dont see why not
