Oil pressure light

I have done a search and found a few things but they don't tie up with my issue, my Oil warning light has come on and beeps at me(Yes its the oil light). it does not do it every time i start the car about three times in the last week or so, but didn't come back on after switching the engine of and back on, in all the searches i did people said that this was due to low oil pressure but my gauge says the pressure is around 100psi on tick over which seems high to me, but when the car warms up it drops to the normal pressure 35-40psi and 60-70psi when excellerating and my oil level is spot on, also it is only when the car is cold.
Anyone got an opinion as to what it could be? or what it is not.
So far my options seem to be at worst oil pump and best oil sensor, i have not looked on vag com yet but i will do when i get home from work.

Hmmm, loose wire from the pressure sensor?
Loose earth?

Bit worrying though.

The gauge is working though, if it was wireing it woug be going on and off, and what caused the oil light to come on, what pressure should i be seeing?

i had this on my old seat cupra, it turned out to be the fact the filter was clogged and with an oil change and new filter all was fine after.

I have been thinking this, the sensor is on the top of the oil filter housing, but i only did an oil change about 3 months ago 2000 miles or so, it has not done it at all today but the oil pressure is still at 100psi on cold start up but drops to normal when the engine is hot.

i had this on my lcr light would come on randomly, changed the filter an then seemed fine, 8k later no problems, not sure if my filter was naf but changing filter worked for me, worth a try maybe ???

Yeah i think thats what i am going to do, its got to be worth a try.

mine was a brand new filter but had clogged inside. for the price of some oil and a filter its gotta be worth a try. drop me a pm phill, you're only up the road from me, many hands make light work.

my lc done the same to me last night but the light stayed on flashing, any joy with the out come of yours?

There is a reason for it flashing, check your manual.

says oil pressure is low and to top oil up, but the oil level is fine, may change the filter like others has said in the thread??
