Not running right after dpf removal and remap

Sorry to hi-jack this thread... but:

I fancy getting a DPF delete at some point, but I really don't want the car to be smokey (think it makes the car look like a banger... regardless of how fast it is!). Do all DPF delete maps cause smoke? Is the REVO one mentioned above the least smokey?

DPF collects the soot, almost all of it. A strong remap will cause it to produce more soot as well. So, those two combined = black smoke. Just a fact of life.
Basically what you want is Stg1, DPF on.

I still havnt managed to hear back from the guy that mapped it so I guess I've been ripped off. The problem hasn't gotten any better and my mates audi a3 that's a remapped pd140 could feels just as powerful as mine, so I'm sure there's an issue. I've spoke to darkside development and they want £480 to get it sorted, and rang revo and they told me to go somewhere called autotechnica but when I spoke to them they don't even
have software for the pd170. Is there anywhere else to try or is darkside the best place to go? Cheers

PD170, as you will have read a lot on here, is an absolute PIG to tune.
Stick with Darkside. Do a search on here as well on PD170 tuning, there are a couple guys who know a LOT about it. And basically will tell you to go to Darkside or one or two other reputable ones. Prices won't be far off 400

Conclusion:

No map + cash = Revo...NOT sedox.
Current sedox map + no more cash + no problems = keep map
Current sedox map + free cash + no problems = change to Revo
Current sedox map + free cash/no cash + problems = change to Revo map and borrow cash if necessary

Well my car goes, sounds and feels ok, but I think this is where I'm heading:

Current sedox map + could find the cash + no problems + zero peace of mind = change to Revo

If I had a spare 400 quid lying around, I'd do it this weekend.

Yeah the peace of mind is the kicker! The extra 400 quid could be worth it just for that alone, then there's Marshalls comments that the Revo map seems to pull much stronger over 3300 rpm and also on my graph the power and torque both take a big dive at about 4700 rpm such that they are lower than standard after that, whereas the Revo graph shows the extra power pulling all the way to 5000. Decisions...

I know how it feels to have no confidence in the software but I had issues to cause this.

I've paid £783 to have a stage 1 map which is now perfect!
Only because I was having problems with my Sedox software diid I change. If my car was running well and I was happy I wouldn't of changed but we all know that wasn't the case.

The sensible thing for me to do is just drive the car and see how it goes, though my map must be basically the same as you got from them which is what concerns me.

Ok here's mine:

I think I like it even less now, starts to drop off by 4200 and is producing less than stock by 4700, surely it should have more power all the way to 5k???

Yours is poop!!
No offence. Torque is quite low and the power drops off ridiculously after 4200.

Really odd. Like a totally different engine

You'd need to put your DPF back in if you went with Revo IIRC unless they have a no-DPF code now

edit - checked their website & they do now have a DPF delete code! Play on in that case

Yeh REVO offer CR170 Stage1 (with DPF) and Stage2 (without DPF)

They must be fairly happy with it to even be offering it, because they pulled the PD170 DPF delete after a few weeks

That's what I'm thinking. I think the Revo stg2 map would be too aggressive (and smokey?) for my likings.
It's more the peace of mind that you have a map that has been tested over and over, all parameters checked, and proven. Not a map that some guy quickly put together in the corner of his office in between other jobs.

Like I said, if I had a spare 400.... But I never have a SPARE 400. I'd have to save up specifically for it, like most people. And 400 quid will get me some nice suspension, DA machine and gear, etc etc

Not that I race anyone but my mates got a mk5 golf Gti 200bhp with induction kit fitted.
Today he was behind me when pulling on to a main A road. First gear he was on the back if me then 2nd and 3rd there's a massive difference(looked like he had the handbrake on!)
Just when I thought I was getting used to it the performance moves up another level.
