Nokia car cradle or not

Got a Nokia car kit being fitted next week, but the question is whether I just go for the bluetooth option on the one with the cradle.

I'm always warry of rattles etc as I hate rattles

got bluetooth in the Beeza, just the button, with pop-port stealthily hidden near handbrake

full cradle in the pug, no squeaks or rattles at all, + charging, and phone in view at all times, not in a jacket pocket thrown in the boot!!

voice dialling on both, and automatic answer, so totally hands free :)

MMm quite like the clean look of the kit without the cradle, but the cradle would be good for charging the phone and being able to have my other phone via bluetooth

I've got both:D

I prefer to use the cradle as it keeps the phone charged but I use the button for voice dailing etc. If you put a phone in the cradle it won't let another connect via bluetooth though.

Yeah that's the one I'm getting I think. Mate of mine has it in his ford focus and he is able to use both the bluetooth and cradle etc

Mikey - I have the Bluetooh kit without the cradle, the Nokia button is next to the TCS button, so I have 3 in a row, Fuel cap, TCS and Nokia.. You wouldn't even know my car has a car kit fitted, discreet microphone on the roof lining in front of the interior lights and voice via the car speakers... Works well, but if you power stuff from your ciggy socket, get a spliter to charge the phone, thats the only draw back against having the cradle.

Yeah I'm undecided as to what to go for. I'll see what the chap says on Tuesday when he comes to fit it etc.

you can't use bluetooth and cradle at the same time, pop-port takes priority.

if one phone is connected to pop-port and you engage bluetooth, phone will ask to disconnect accessory first.

Just one downer!!!

Didn't get that on my mates, I had a play with his kit and I was able to make a call with either phone, of course not at the same time, but both came through the car kit system etc

After going from a cradle in my previous car to Bluetooth in the Leon, at first I wished I still had a cradle installed.

But after using the Bluetooth for a few weeks I was converted for the following reasons.

You don't have to get your phone out of the pocket.
It is much more simple to use, one big button plus volume control.
It is safer as you don't need to take your eyes off the road.
All of the numbers I call whilst driving are set up for voice dialling by holding the button in.
If it so important that you need to type a number into the phone you should just pull over.
On most phones you can assign different ring tones for callers so you don't need to look at the phone to know who's calling.
If I do need to charge my phone I have a charger in the glove box.

In my opinion the cradle option is old technology and not as reliable, it doesn't look as good and can get in the way at times.

I got both as well.. Cradle down by the ashtray and the button up by the steering wheel.. Handy for shor journeys if your phone is in your pocket - or longer journeys where you can charge the phone as well

Just trying to figure out where to put my Dell Axim X51v as it's currently where the phone will go. On my father's Volvo V70, wouldn't have the prob of the glove box...
