I have a quick question though - running a smidge more power than me, with a similar setup, do you suffer from turbo surge chattering when trying to hoof it from too low a revs? Mine gets so bad I have to always change up to gets the revs around 2000rpm+ before full throttle can be applied and it really kicks in. Was wondering if the uprated injectors you have fitted has helped. :)

thats an impressive amount of power and torque from the lump, welcome aboard SCN S14 good to have you onboard. glad you got your problem sorted easily too!

Thanks Stew

Between this site and the UK mk4 Golf site there are reems and reems of info and helpfull people like yourselves willing to give advice and the community spirit is excellent much like the SXOC Club I have just come from Nissan 200sx owners club.

Must admit Im hooked on diesel power now!! Not even my 300 bhp Nissan had the torque my new Golf has I have never felt anything quite like it!! VW, SEAT,AUDI,SKODA quality is superb too, after owning numerous Peugeots/Jap cars the build quality is leagues ahead you can feel the quality just driving them, and must admit the TDI 130/150 engines are real corkers arent they!!

Hi Matey

I Dont suffer with what you describe, and this could well be down to the fact that I have uprated injector nozzles but the car pulls like a train from 1000rpm hardly any turbo lag at all its instant! Full throttle in second at 1000rpm lights the tyres up even on a dry road!! As does Third!!The torque is rediculous!!

I can't imagine what an Ibiza/Fabia would be like with this power being lighter and all that must be an absolute rocket ship!

I'm running Allards Hybrid VNT2 turbo (vnt20?) and their FMIC as well. With the regular pd130 injectors. Now proving to be a weak link. Have been sending some enquiries. ;)

hello fellow sxoc'er, I too went down the same route of getting a diesel instead of having the s14a and I must admit the performance was impressive. 330d with remap, full stainless, aircleaner etc

But it has to go and I reverted back to the s14a as the daily driver which isnt very road friendly in this weather, prefer driving the Ibiza for ease of driving :)

Sorry, thought you were referring to me. I reckon you're right. Must mean the nozzles are damn good then, and the pd150 turbo & oem intercooler must be very mod friendly. :D

so in that case if you want over 200 up to 230 just change the nozzzles as changing turbo and intercooler waste of money! and less hassle

It would appear that way. I guess to push up to 250 we do have to start going down that line of special ICs and big bugger turbos. :D

Not sure how pd150 differs - it might have a bigger turbo than the pd130? Or is a vnt17 as well? Better internals maybe, although I didn't think so.

well the 130 you probably would need to uprate the turbo alright, 150 has a good set up, having said that AMD did a conversion for the 130 by reworking the turbo housing on the 130 and it produced for some people 210bhp with the standard IC !
The 130 and 150 both use a VNT 17 and physically look identicle on the outside but the 150 version runs a larger diameter compressor wheel and turbine wheel.

Aha. Still amazing that the 150 can push to 230 with nozzles and a couple of other minor mods. :) I've never seen a 130 remapped with just nozzles, but if the same kind of principle applies I guess 200-205 is feasible. Cool. :D

It just appears the 130 does need the serious mechanical mods to take it well into the 200s. C'est la vie.

If you just put in bigger injectors without uprating the turbo and intercooler the engine will smoke like hell. Anyone remember the passat that was standard apart from kerma uprated injectors and a remap ?

The video

Now i am not saying that S14A car smokes like this but if you just throw in lots of fuel ( bigger injectors ) without enough air etc ( small turbo+intercooler ) then yes you might get more power but cheaply but would you want to drive around in a car that smokes like hell ?

Hi Guys Yep running only a little over standard boost 26psi im on stock 150 turbo and standard front mounted IC, Full de-catted system plus downpipe, closed induction...and uprated nozzles??? All this is on the jabba report and graph shows 230 bhp with just over 500 nm torque and its fantastic...must admit it does smoke a little on full boost but hardly noticable........Any more power and it would be impossible to drive! Like my Nissan was lol! My Golf lights up the tyres in Second and third sometimes when it hits peak torque! I don't really care if people think it hasn't got the stated power or if it should be less but im really happy with it and thats what counts...I thought I would be dissapointed coming from my Nissan but the Golf shocked me!! Was originally in the market for a Civic Type R but after driving both the golf was faster and more fun with all of the torque!
Also chap who had it before me took it for a few runs down the 1/4 mile at SantaPod and beat a number of Type R 's!! lol
Im averaging 500 miles to a tank which is superb!! thats more than our Peugeot 307 hdi is doing! Plus this was one of the main reasons for buying it My nissan was doing about 24mpg lol

Hi Mike I must admit the 200sx was ace I had a 2000 model s14a the last year they made them!!

Tuned it myself from scratch exhaust, dump valve boost controller even fitted an Apexi Front Mounted Ic in a day! cut my hands to bits mind but it was worth it!!

I loved the car but it was far to dangerous in poor weather you have to be constantly on guard as the rear breaks away at the drop of a hat!! over the past 4 months I have found myself driving at 40 mph around roundabouts and sticking to 70 mph on motorway and watching saxo's and corsa's fly by!! lol

It just wasn't fun anymore! My wife refused to drive it as she put her foot down to pass a tractor in the wet and ended up skating past it sideways!! Frightened the life out of her!

I had a great 2 yrs with the car but it just wasn't doable with the weather we have I know I would have ended up bumping it! I called it the hedge Hunter!! anyway the final straw came when my wife fell pregnant, I sold up last month and bought my crazy golf last week! Really happy! and my wife had always wanted the Anniversary Golf from when it was first launched we just couldnt afford one at the time...oh and needless to say my wife is chuffed to bits with it and cannot stop smiling when she drives it
