How many times???..... Just because a tyre costs lots, doesn't make it better than SOME of the cheaper ones.......

I agree that some budget brands out there do offer poor performance, but not all, and some ARE better than tyres costing twice as much with a well known name on the side.

Its almost like BMW's..... you are just paying for the name !!

lol name a budget tyre thats better than say eagle f1 gsd? you get what you pay for if you buy a budget tyre you will notice a difference, if "SOME" budget tyres are so good why dont we all run them?

I had Toyo Proxes T1-S on my Saxo before I bought my Cupra, got a set of Kumho Ecsta's on it and they feel much more grippy that the Toyos or though that may have something to do with the car to! lol

Funnily enough, I found that exact same thing, with the exact same tyres, I changed them on the same car, so it wasn't the car :p

Falken 512s

Hi,
I have done 45k in my 52 plate LC and have tried various makes of tyres in those 2 years.

It came with Bridgestone Potenzas (not sure which model but big chunky tread) which were OK but suffered a bit from lack of grip in the wet.
I replaced the fronts with Goodyear F1s which were great any weather and really gripped giving me lots of confidence to push the LC to its limits but wore very quickly.
Tried some cheap Nexen 3000s on the rear and had it snap out on me in the wet, not much fun and had to replace pants as well as cheap nasty tyres asap.

Now have Falken 512s all round and am impressed with grip, especially in wet. The tyres allow some drift but never feel out of control. Only had them on for 3000 miles so cant comment on wear. Paid just over £100 per corner all in from local tyre specialist so not bad cost wise.

I think it depends on how you drive and how safe you (and your family) want to be. Cheap tyres are OK but dont be surprised if they let you down when pushing on.

Cheers. :funk:

Cheap cheap tyres such as the nankangs, nexens, wanli's, linglongs etc.......aren't worth paying for....

As people have said, the kumho's are a budget tyre, but in a league above the ultra budgets above.....then above kumho's ec you get your yoki's, f1's etc.....

Kumho's and the like are a decent compromise.......Its what i would go for if i had to get the best for the least amount of money.......

Got yoko a539's on mine just now....mate got a deal......4 for 200.00 buck on 2054017's........and i'm liking them very much......wear ain't to bad either.

Hi all,

I went for Kumho's in the end, £180.00 fully fitted from the local garage (Myles, that's Dowley's in Carterton for your info), getting them put on tomorrow and then a big drive up North so I'll be able to get a good feel of how they are. Thanks for all of your input, it helped alot  :D

Cheers
