New front tyres on a budget

Hi,

I need two new front tyres for my 03 Platinum Grey Cupra. I've been looking on www.blackcircles.co.uk and found a pair of Falken ZE 512's fully fitted for £166.00, has anyone had experience of these tyres? and secondly if these are shite can you recommend another make remembering my budget, which according to the wife is 'small'.

Cheers

Kumho. I bought a pair, they are quite hardwearing, on the other hand that means they possibly dont play as well in the wet. But beggars cant be choosers. They were £70 each all inclusive. I think they were KH31 model or the up to date version. Dont go for Nankang. Cheap, poor wearing, and dont grip, which is a pre-requisite for fronts, I would think:cry:

Myles,

Thanks for that. From your description it sounds like you have these ones:

Kumho Ecsta Sport KU 31 (Extra Load)

70 quid sounds like a bargain if they were fully fitted, they are 92 quid each on blackcircles fully fitted, where did you get yours fitted?

I got them done in Plymouth, in a place called Gupa-P, last year. A little bit of haggling got them down from about 78 each! Cant guarantee that price now though. Whereabouts in Oxfordshire are you by the way, I have just moved to Carterton in the last 2 months. Should really change my details.:)

Myles,

Funny old thing I'm in Carterton (Cartoontown) as well.

Spanky,

I'm originally from Preston (Clayton-Le-Woods) as well. By the way my tyre size is 225/45/17 Y

Small world.

Cheers for your help

Spanky,

As you're from Preston, I take it you got them fitted in or around the Preston area?, I'm back up there over the bank holiday and might try and get them sorted there.

I havent seen you round. Perhaps we should do a communal Spotted, like a backslapping session. Do you work in Despize Norton?

I get my tyres from Westgate Tyres up in Morecambe... they are usually about £12-£20 cheaper per tyre than around Preston, well worth the trek up there.

Yeah, I know, just saying that by shopping around you can get them cheaper, I used mine as an example. ;)

I've just got back from Afghanistan so she hasn't been out to play much. The wife only used it to get to and from work whilst I was away. You won't believe the state it's in when I come back from a detachment :censored:.

Unfortunately it's been two years now (not that I'm counting:cry: ) that I've had the misfortune of living in Scumsville aka Carterton. I'll be posted in 07 thank F**K:happy:

I'll keep an eye out for you, I don't think there's many on camp, I've a friend who's got a yellow Cupra on camp on a 52 plate and I've seen an older yellow one (pre facelift), I think there's a black FR on a 54 around as well.

Hi mate, dont use Balck circle. they are rip off's. I bought two yoko's for mine, cost me around £250. I went had fitted at the designated fitting centre, and if i had bought direct from that fitting centre would have cost me £200. Be careful.
Dont budget on tyres, saved my life a few times:headhurt:

why skimp on tires? surely its worth spending out on some decent rubber? i got eagle F1s for £105 each

 Purely and simply as the title of the thread suggests, I'm on a budget and can't afford top whack tyres. Given the opportunity of course I would like the best for my Cupra as every loving owner would, but a 13 month old baby has to fit into the scheme of things somewhere as well.
