I'll compare the reg plates to the press release plates - but the images look the same (but photoshopped)

I notice too that the combined for the TFSI is 35.8mpg, which for me only is good news as I have to meet 35mpg or better to get a new car and use my fuel card. I didn't think I would be able to get another hottish petrol hatch until now. If I had to pay for the fuel myself then I would probably go for the diesel, but as I don't the petrol wins it for me.
However I have been looking at a Lexus IS220d, with multimedia, and I know it is 10grand on the FR but I am seriously tempted.

You'll be lucky to get 35mpg out of the TFSI...

On a long Motorway run keeping at 70mph or less I get around 34mpg. The overall average is 28.9...

Yeh, realise that, but it doesn't matter as it says it on the official website so that figure is used when I send off my car renewal form to head office.
It would probably get a revo map up its pipe too.

Omfg I Ve Waited 2 Aeons For This Anti Climax .the New Leon Design Is Once Again An Overall Disappointment. The Fr Looks Unfinished And Stumpy From The Front, Decent From The Side And Like A Huge Modded Ford Ka From The Back. [those Lines On The Rear...i Don't Think I Need To Say Anything Else. This Car Just Looks Stupid . Especially I Feel In The Uk. Its Not As Bad As The New Renault Clio But I Dont Care About The Clio So This Is Worse As This Actually Matters. Lets Take The Badge And Grille For Example. Its Shiiiiiite. Who The Cahoggerfogger Wants Cheap Vertical Plastic Lines On The Front Of There Beast. Not Me. I Will Therefore Be Sticking With My Ibiza As I Just Cannot Justify Parting With My Wad To Downgrade !![:@]

I can't understand why people do not like the new Leon. I think and everybody who sees my car thinks it is one of the best looking cars on the road and I have a standard 2.l tdi sport without the bodykit or FR bodykit which makes it look even better.

Each to their own I suppose.

I think SEAT will sell a barrell load of the FR's. Just wait and see

SEAT Leon FR first drives

Just thought you guys would like some info on the Leon FR from the horse's mouth - or rather SEAT UK PR.

For those that thought Kyle Fortune didn't actually drive the car, I have to confirm that he did, as I was there with him in Martorell on Tuesday this week. We took around a dozen UK journalists to the international event, and the overall impression of the car was very favourable. Though journalists like to keep their cards close to their chests on these events - and it's not always wise to ask for their opinions - it seems that the main factors that impressed were
1) the engines 2) the styling (take it from me, it looks so much more special in the metal - especially in yellow 3) the chassis 4) the value

Expect reviews to differ between publications as ever, because at the end of the day it would have been written by one person with a subjective opinion. But I think overall the car has made a great impression.

By the way, just recently SEAT Fleet took some key people to Spain to try the car ahead of even the press. These are the guys such as CAP and Glass's who set the predicted Residual Values for products - a crucial role. Jason King of Glass's had this to say:

"The FR versions of the Leon further enhance the already impressive handling of the standard models. Full use can be made of the increased power and torque that the new engines offer.

"The new 170 PS diesel engine offers a great blend of power and economy, whilst the 2.0 T FSI certainly lives up to the “Formula Racing” badge. Leon FR models are the type of sports-orientated but practical hatchbacks that always attract strong interest from new and used cars buyers alike."

So that's very promising.

Incidentally, I'm happy to drop in here when time allows (it's pretty hectic in the Press Office!) to pass on some product info where possible. I can't help with any individual customer issues unfortunately- that's what my very helpful colleagues in SEAT Customer Care are better equipped at doing than me!

PS It's a great site - fantastic to see so much enthusiasm for our cars.

Cheers, Mike

Thanks for the input Mike, appreciated as i know this month is extra busy for you guys.

Im a big fan of this new car, and I think people, should try driving one, and actually getting up close to them, because they are very good cars, i also think its one of the more uniquely interesting looking cars on the road, and they are becoming a more common site round my neck of the woods, so they are certainly gaining interest.

Im just waiting patiently for the one you've got under wraps ;)

I have to say that these people who say the new Leon design looks rubbish are entitled to their opinion but I don't think the majority of the public agree. I've owned a TFSI sport now for a few months and it still gets people complementing it's looks in the company car park. (especially when the black paint is clean!) Last week I parked next to a new Golf and our fleet manager commented that he'd seen the two cars parked together and couldn't understand why anyone would shell out an extra 3 or 4 grand for a Golf that looked half as good as the Leon.

So there you go Mr Seat PR man, the fleet managers do like them, though I don't suppose you can use a quote that put's your big brother VW in the shade :)

By the way, PR's part of Marketing isn't it? How's the colouring in department doing these days?

Here here!!!! All the feedback i have had from work pals, joe public in the street and whilst parked up in car parks has been positive. I have had not one person saying bad things about the new LEON. It's still a head turner even 6 months on from owning one.:D

The New Leon is exactly that "New" and when compared to other cars in this market segment the car is far from boring or bland - example - Golf / Focus.

Having been driven around Brands Hatch with Rickard Riddell at the wheel of a TFSI Sport - the performance / handling of the car was nothing short of outstanding. The FR and Cupra will no doubt be better due to a slighter stiffer set up.

Well that's my two pennies worth.

I think the looks of the new Leon are great and the FR looks stunning. My gripe is with the interior which, based on a Sport model, was less than impressive and erring towards 'cheap'.

The feel of the seats was prettty good and the driving position was nice but the plastics, etc didn't feel up to much and having since been in a Skoda Octy vRS, I have to say the Octy is miles ahead of the Leon in terms of the interior.

Shame really asthe outside looks spot on for the current look or cars and I'm still liking it more everytime I see it!

:)

I suspect the new Leon will be one of those cars I'll grow to love the look of, like the 5 and 6 series BMWs
