Thats why its annoying, because in one quarter parts of the dealer network are saying to their customers that SEAT are fitting SEAT Sport brakes and the other saying they are going to be swapping them to Brembo's at a later date.

SEAT have officially said diddly squat other than its been mentioned by SEAT press here in the UK that they are expected not to be using Brembo's and using possibly SEAT Sport branded calipers in their place.

The official press pack that was published last week by SEAT and on SEATCupra.net mentions nothing about Brembo's or SEAT Sport calipers, just that they are red in colour and that they are big.

Which may mean a number of scenarios, either SEAT havn't said anything as yet, and some sectors of the dealer network are making things up.

Or they are making the changes as standard from the outset and just havn't released this media info as yet.

Or they are making the change at a later date as has been alleged.

Needless to say it leaves the majority confused.

Not cancelling my order though. ;)

I think it will be a brillant car, give it a few months for SEAT to iron out any niggles that might appear, they will adopt it as time rolls on and add some extras and make tweaks here and there.

Brembos as standard is a must (and from this thread appears so).
Give it about 2 years for a used model with 16,000 on the clock which will probably be about £14-15K and I'm sure there will be some software to get it remapped to the 300bhp mark.....

According to the brochure I seen sitting in the SEAT dealers down the road from me, the brembo brakes are standard. They are shown in the pictures and mentioned in the text within the brochure.

It states..."and thakfully, its colour-coded red brembo brake calipers can bring it to an equally fast halt."

The Red CALIPER scenario is a real brainer.
In the official showroom brochure issue 11/06 it states that they are >Red Painted Sports brakes with NO BRANDING in the text or in the images on page 31.
The Teaser brochure that came out 15.07.06 (Opens up into an A3 Poster) does show brembos but the text refers to them as colour coded red brake calipers that can bring it to an equally fast halt.

So which ever way you look at it it is unlikely that the brembo's will be fitted at all.
SEAT Sport Calipers will be standard and every one can talk about something else.
What about this body kit then any news??

Here is a blurb I got off of http://www.netcarshow.com/seat/2007-leon_cupra/

=======================
The Cupra's high performance capabilities require brakes that are equally impressive - and the new model delivers, with a powerful system featuring striking red-painted callipers. The front ventilated discs are sized at 345x30 mm, which is larger than those used on the rest of the range. And if that was not enough, the Cupra can also be fitted with an even more capable Brembo brake system as an option. This four-piston system offers enhanced stopping performance and improved resistance to high temperatures.

moin!

i've ordered a leon cupra here in germany two and a half weeks ago. you can order the brembos here as an option what i did. last week my dealer called me and explained that he got an information from seat which says that you cannot get the brembos at all! the reason is that seat is not working together with brembo anymore.

all grammar and other mistakes are on purpose! :D

I have the feeling its a revised K03, it seems like too low a power figure for it to be running a K04. Its like haveing the old 225 running as a 190. Its going to be the same with the 30th Anniversary GTi, thats set to be around 230.

At the end of the day it comes down to how it drives in the real world and how individuals find it, i wont take the review too much to heart.

I think there will be ample tuning possibilities for it, but it may require at least a k04 being slapped on there.

the edition 30 golf gti has got the same turbo as the audi s3, its a k04 variant.
i would have thought the cupra has too, no details until january on the seat part numbers. it should be the same as these
Turbo:

195 KW BHZ (S3) 06F 145 702 C KKK
169 KW BYD (edition 30) 06F 145 702 C KKK

Block and internals:

Rumpfmotor BHZ (S3) 06F 100 035
Rumpfmotor BYD (edition 30 ) 06F 100 035

Very interesting. So what is the possibility with the Golf coming as standard with the edition 30 engine, as it can't be that far away from a face lift?

It would make more sense in economies of scale, otherwise they'd be making the K04 2.0T for only a handful of cars.

Road tested the Focus ST yesterday (out of curiosity) both my wife and i agreed this is one 'Dull' car. Volvo engine, volvo character. Might be good round a racetrack in the hands of Clarkson and co but it won't set your pulse racing. It sounds improbable but we both agreed our well worn in 03 LCR was a good deal faster!. If the new Cupra is as 'sporting' as the old Seat will sell loads.

My local dealer said Seat had experienced problems with heat dissipation on the brakes for the new Leon Cupra and were going to be fitting brakes similar to the Golf R32. Brakes for a heavier car = more stopping power, i guess?

never heard of the focus st being described as dull....it looks prety mean and sounds fantastic. I also drove them back to back and when i got back into my old LCR 04 with 35K on the clock the LCR felt slower and oh how i missed the sound.
