WOW I guess these magazines really do like the Golf! :D

I'm gonna have a word with me old SEAT dealer to ensure I get a go in one when they get their demo.

I have to say tho standard spec vs standard spec the GTI is a rip off compared to what's thrown in on the Cupra. I added £2k to get it how I wanted - most of which it seems will be standard on the Cupra!

But I love the look of the 3 door Golf as the Leon just seemed so damn big in 5 door trim (even tho Dan tells me its actually not that much bigger than the Golf)

Each to their own though. I liked the Golf and went for it. :)

Could be better

As i haven't driven the Cupra, i cant say if its a good car or not. Look wise its not that great. LCR was a stunner.
Regarding the comments made buy the car mags.
I wouldn't be suprised if it wasn't as good as the GTI Golf.
When Seat released the first Leon it was better than the Golf it was based on. And i just think that VW this time woke up and thought, No way will we let that happen again. Why would they want Seat to produce a Faster, better more beautiful car than their new Golf GTI. That they have tried to make to regain the GTI status of old.

I feel this is why the Cupra may not be the Car it should be.

I have now seen the car up close and had the privilege to drive it.
For those of you who have issues with the look of the car , Seat are looking into offering a body kit option similar to the Seat Copa track car as well as the body kit from 2006.
Options are now available and they can be ordered.
Brembo brakes will be replaced with near identical SEAT SPORT calipers until Brembo and Seat Sport are happy with the performance.
Disc and Calipers are HUGE!!!!
Seats are awesome. Very snug and still room in the back.
Fantastic excelleration on the straight and grips like poo on a bog roll in the corners.
I will have one for January 2007.
ANY QUESTIONS?:D

Are you saying that Brembo's will eventually be fitted on the car then?

Any idea when the full options list will be available? as in the new body kit etc

They will have brembo branded brakes by approx April May June (TBC)
The Seat Sport ones are in the identical red with SEAT SPORT branding.
What options would you want to consider?

wonder if the seat ones will go pink like the brembo's do

Why not have the caliper removed and coated with a clear heat resistant laquer to protect them from fading.

Shouldn't have to with calipers of that calibre, besides, unless you stripped them right down it'd still happen anyway.

Seems to be conflicting info here - whether they're standard VAG calipers (painted red) or the SEAT Sport branded AP's (or some other SEAT Sport branded red painted caliper).

I can't quite beleive that they would launch with one spec of brakes, then change to another - seems like a real nightmare. Not to mention if anyone ever has a bump in an early cqar without the upgraded brakes ;)

Maybe they're saving the Brembos, the full 260ps and the S3's lightweight suspension for a later, higher performance model? Oh, sorry, there's not going to be a Cupra R, is there. :bleh:

From the point of view of an early adopting customer, its royally annoying that they can't make their mind up on specification.

I can happily accept the SEAT Sport brakes that isn't an issue to me whatsoever. But why are they alledgedly changing them back to Brembo's??

The only feasible reason i could I think of is a manufacturing issue, which is prevently them from adding them to the early cars. If that was the case then all the early adoptors of the Leon Cupra should be given the option of a free upgrade to Brembo calipers if they make the change in the first year.

£20k is a lot of money to be shelling out only to find a few months after they are swapping brake calipers. And you just know that once we come to sell them on in 3-4 years times, the resale will be affected, because everyone will be wanting Brembo calipers.

They should choose a spec and stick to it, its causing me to get itchy feet.

I agree with what you're saying, it would be more than bloody annoying. But who says they're going to swap them later?

If the ones they've got are better than Brembos they'll be good brakes, why would they change them?

If for reasons of performance and marketing they wanted bigger brakes, and the brembos weren't up to it, they would've gone with the SEAT Sport AP's surely?
