Well, the dealer has now replaced the throttle body, and it seemed fine on the way home, (clear, dry evening) then yesterday morning, it was really wet outside and sure enough, it was reluctant to start, misfired, reved on its own and then died a couple of times !
It's now back with the dealer again...

I had a Fiesta once that did this (the Ford 1.25 16v Zetec engine) and the problem was down to a faulty idle speed control valve.

It would do 3000 revs on tick-over and you could be driving up hill in fifth take yoy foot off the accelerator and the revs would keep rising.

Got the idle speed control valve replaced the first time when the car was about 4 weeks old and remember getting it cleaned at a later date.

Could be any sensor really.
Definately nothing on diagnostics?
If rain is affecting it, is there any water getting into the engine room anywhere?
The obvious things would be anything to do with the inlet, such as throttle body, MAF sensor etc, but you've had those replaced. Is there anything else in the inlet area?
Is the car re-mapped? Or had anything done to the ECU in any way?

Edit: I take it they replaced the TPS with the throttle body?

JediMaster, is this the same problem that you had HERE?

It's not the PCV cracked/split again is it?
Or has it never been running right since you first started the other post?

Diagnostic keeps saying "Camshaft G40 sensor - implausable signal"
Yet this sensor has been replaced, - twice !
All the other major parts including the two fuel pumps, Ecu, etc have ben replaced and the car is in Std stock tune, - so it's quite baffling !

The problem only goes away when the weather is dry.

As soon as wet weather arrives, it's a nightmare.

It's the same problem I posted earlier...

Am now on 15th dealer visit and spoken to SEAT customer care to vent my annoyance. Dealer has given me a Leon 1.6 Stylance (Shudder !) but at least I am mobile again !

What does the camshaft sensor do? Tell the engine which position it is at?
If so, then it will be a proximitity sensor. Could the part of the cam that the sensor detects be faulty?
Could it be a dodgy connection somewhere between the sensor and the ECU?
I've never really understood the purpose of a cam sensor, if the engine uses the crank sensor to work out what part of the cycle the engine is on then it shouldn't need a cam sensor, unless I'm missing something.

15 visits is bad though. If I was you I'd be telling the dealer to take parts off of their demo car and fit them to yours untill the problem goes away.

You are right there, but thats exactly what the dealer has been doing, and the weird thing is the parts they swap with their demo cars never fault, so I guess we have not got to the fault yet.
I suspect a bad connection like you said Rampage, ar a dodgy earth somewhere.
It isn't actually wet in the engine bay but the dampness in the air that seems to trigger it, especially as the weather turns toward rain.

Anyway, I feel my nightmare is distracting us from H8T WP's trouble

...how are you getting on, mate ?

Did you get it sorted yet ?
