Hi, i get my car tomorrow, was just wondering about mpg.
Its a 2.0l tfsi fr.
It has a 55 litre tank so at todays prices would cost £50 to fill.
So if the car averages 30mpg, that means in the 55litre tank there are 12 gallons.
So am i right in saying if there are 12 gallons in the tank and it does 30 miles per gallon, then for a full tank it would do 12x30 which is 360miles to a full tank. Is this correct. What sort of miles do you get to a full tank in this car?
Got mine just over a year ago and ran it for the first 5000 miles on Super Unleaded. Averaged about 29/30mpg (Not a boy racer/not a Sunday driver) but lots of short journey's
Changed in Jan/Feb this year to normal unleaded (as an experiment) and reported my results on this site for several months) Please do a search (at this time of night
)
Not withstanding the fact that I stopped reporting a few months ago, I am still keeping records and on normal unleaded petrol I am still recording overall mpg as 29/30mpg
My "personal" opinion is if you drive the car hard everywhere you go you will get "Boy Racer" mpg returns (20 to 22mpg), However, if you "Granny Drive" everywhere
you can achieve 35 even 40mpg. If you drive the car with the attitide of "A bit of fun now and then, blow out the occasional Sunday Driver/Chav and for the rest of the time drive within the "Legal Limits" you should achieve at least 28/30 mpg (On normal unleaded)
Super Unleaded or Normal Unleaded................ Which to choose?
Personally, I have not noticed any major difference which is why I am sticking with normal unleaded. Cheaper yes
but true petrol heads on this site will probably shoot me down, Listen to their arguments then make your own decision
