My batterys' not survived this mildest of winter. Been on its way out for some time now. Had a good search and found a post by Lee69 that the 075 was a great fit. Would love to get one on order but every website says this does not fit leon mk1 1.8t which aint filling me with confidence. Is it a car age issue thats thats flagging incompatibility? Mines a 2002. I'm going to take mine out first daylight i get chance (wknd) to measure up, but just seeing if anybody has recently done this swapover and can advise. Just looking for lilke for like purchase, something that the battery cover and sleeve thingy fits over snug.

It will be that the posts are on the wrong side and your leads wont be long enough .

I bought a new battery for a toyota off euro carparts that they said would fit on the site . Yeah it fitted the tray, but posts on wrong side so wasted half a day lengthening and re routing leads !

If you go to halfords they have batterys on display . You can check the details are right and then order off net same battery if cost is an issue.

Well it looks like the posts are on the same side for the 027 and the 075. Theres a height difference - 075 is 175mm and the 027 is 190mm. Managed to measure height of mine without faffin about dismantling, and its 190mm. If i want the cover to go back on i would guess i need to stick the 190 high, this being the 027 range, which is what all the websites point to when reg gets input. Not checked out the 065 as yet though.

Also looking for a new battery for a 2002 1.8T 180bhp.

Paul B2010 - did you figure out which one would fit?

Would an exide 065 fit? (if anyone else can advise would appreciate it)

Went for the 027 and it fit a treat. Cover went back on fine. Bought an exide premium EA640 from eurocarparts, ordered thru eBay at time as there was no good offer on it direct. Picked it up locally, then the offer came on buying direct, that matched the price soon after. £65 I paid.
