The newly redesigned CUPRA Formentor is now available to order in the UK.

Created to appeal to the next generation of CUPRA drivers, the new designs feature a striking, shark-nose front end embellished with an integrated CUPRA logo, triangular LED lights (matrix as standard on VZ3 trim), and an illuminated logo positioned in the centre of the rear light.

Complimenting the fresh exterior is an enhanced interior. The centre console, door panels, dashboard and upholsteries have all been redesigned leaving the driver surrounded by new and sustainable materials with a high quality feel.

So what do we think of the pricing? Will you be ordering one?
In short, No.

Too pricey vs 2nd hand and I really don't fancy all that Nanny State Tech being forced upon us neither.

5 year Warranty - is reassuring, but still too expensive all in for what is still (unfortunately) a fledgling (or is it Cuckoo..? 🤔) brand.

On-the-road price of the TSI VZ2 is approx £8.5k higher than when the TSI VZ2 Formentor was first introduced.

The OTR did increase year on year even with the OG Formentor, but at least the opportunity was there briefly for people to avoid higher tax threshold.

Now with these new list prices, the TSI will never be appliable, the segment of buyers aren't going to be looking at the Formentor for at least 6 years from now. But at least it's all fixed if I decide to own one again, in the future. Trouble is, every manufacturer is now going to compete with every used 17/18+ reg coming out of the extra £40k tax rate.

Still not sure I can figure where the CUPRA brand sits in the VAG Group and if its trying to be a premium brand (which these prices imply) then they need to get there dealer network sorted.

I could not justify spending that sort of cash on a new car which will depreciate far to quickly and i also wonder what is going to happen to prices if the Chinese competition and for that matter KIA release more new models.

I think that Cupra was originally conceived as a sports brand rather than a premium brand. However, the Cupra model range now includes many non-performance models, which IMHO dilutes the sports brand image (no offence meant to owners of non-performance Cupra‘s). Irrespective of where the Cupra brand sits within the VAG’s hierarchy, IMHO there’s no excuse for poor customer service at dealerships, although sadly, it happens; I‘ve also had poor service with VW.

I agree, the Chinese need to be watched - there‘s now a BYD dealership within 5 miles of where I live and it’s probably only a matter of time before there’ll be other Chinese brand dealerships springing up locally. Historically, my perception of some of VAG’s brands (especially Audi and VW) has been one of arrogance. However, they can‘t afford to dwell on past glories and rest on their laurels, otherwise they’ll become has-beens. The power of the competition can’t be underestimated or ignored - especially when it’s the Chinese.

I fully agree and reuters quoted Stellantis boss Carlos Tavares, the Netherlands-based automaker's chief, last week that if the company's loss-making brands "don't make money, we'll shut them down". and I think VAG will also be looking at the cost of all these different brands vs benefit they get (in profit)

VAG Bosses already admitted that the IT Mess on there new cars has cost the brand dearly and I suspect the new car makers are much more nimble at making what the market wants (which seems to be more Tech in the car)

Exactly my thoughts on too many non- performance CUPRA's.

I look forward to it - if only because with the SEAT you don't have to pay the £960 that Cupra charge for Desire Red or Graphene Grey paint
That’s a really good point. I’m still feeling personally attacked that Cupra dropped Red altogether. Had three in that colour so far.
