I have an issue where the nearside front passenger door will not unlock from the remote but if you open from the inside then the door will work opening both internal and external handles. When you lock on the remote it locks fine but wont open again until opened from the inside.

Is this an MOT fail? If the car isnt locked then the door opens and shuts just fine. I ask as i have my MOT due in a couple of weeks.

Drivers side for a while only worked on key but has since decided to start working again on the remote.

There is nothing in the MOT to do with the actual door locking mechanism. The thing that is tested is the door latching mechanism. A door must latch securely and must be able to be opened from both inside and outside of the vehicle. As your doors all open and close fine once they are unlocked you should be OK.

Second that, my MK1 LCR failed its MOT two weeks ago because rear left door could not be opened from the outside, my handle was not connected at all though.

Your be ok as long as you make sure you check all doors are unlocked before you turn up for the MOT and don't lock the car.

I was told its for in an accident situation, safety.
