bad news guys!

i tried the 1ohm resistor and it made no difference!

i used a multi metre to find the power wire and soldered the resistor into that. heres just a pic of wat it looks like (no resistor here!)

DSC00512.jpg

i did however plug back in the passenger bulber holder and it stopped the 3rd brake light from glowing!

i also tried another wire for the earthing to improve it, but that made no differce!

i must av spent about 4 hours on it 2day but no joy !:(

and lastly, THANKS GAZ FOR ALL UR HELP ON THE PHONE! i do appreciate it!

anyone els egot any ideas?

james :)

thanks very much pete :)

but i think thtas just a fancy 2ohm resistor!

i did infact try both 1ohm resistors fited at the same time (before and after the plug)... so isnt that like having a 2ohm resistor fitted?

maybe il try phoning ultraleds to see if i can pick their brain!

I just spoke to robert at ultraleds 10 mins ago (yes he asnwered the phone!)

and he says their load resistor kit should sort out my problem!

if not i can get a refund as long as its within 7 days... so no problems there! (so its worth a try! :))

he said its a 250w resistor...

i tried a 1ohm resistor (not sure how many watts that is) so maybe this one will work.. from wat i told him, he seamed to think so!

so fingers crossed and watch this space!

depends how you wired them 2 in series is 2ohm 2 in parallel is 1/2 an ohm, those resistors are wire wound type to take a higher load, may get hot in use! stick em to metal if ya can! not sure but rating in ohm should be on top? let me know when ya get em and if it works wanna fit led lamps in my standard lights!

i wondered y they have heatsinks!

dont worry will report my finds! :)

as for how i had both the 1ohm resistors soldered in at one point... i think it was in series... as in i had one in before the plug and one after it if u see wat i mean? (obvioulsy both connected to the same wire (the brake pwer feed))

so was that series or parallel?

Parallel is, side by side. Series is one after the other! you want ya xmas lights in parallel so if on goes they stay on!

i did it in series in that case!

i hope this ultraled load resistor kit work for me!

finger crossed!

tried them but made no difference! :(

i spoke to my m8 2nite who recons a diode may sort me out... he said that some power is leaking to the 3rd brake light... when i first tried the 1ohm resistors i used my multimetre to take some readings... there is a black, green and red wire going to the LED circuit board and the green wire showed 11.3 V and the red one showed 5v... my m8 said the red one should only show voltage when ur actually braking!

so by using a diode in the red wire it will mean the current can only flow one way, and thus stop the power leaking to the 3rd brake light!

well thats wat he thought may be the situation!

so its worth a try!

as soon as i can i will av a go and let u guys know!

as for my ultraLEDs resistor kit... anyone want to buy it off me?!

it will enable LED lights/bulbs to be used and stops any flashing problems u can get!

MMMM Diode? Sounds like a plan, sorry fella I feel like I contributed to your hassle, if ya send back the Resistor kit and PM me I'll see if I can find some 1n4001 diodes a work for you! I'll pop em in an envelope very smal no cost!

james :)

and i've got a set of LED bulbs if anyone is interested.
Offset amber 19 LED for the front
Straight amber 24LED for the rear

pete... dont worry bud, u didnt make me buy them load resistors!

il try and contact ultra LEDs 2mo and send them back!

infact il email them now i think!

as for the diodes.. 1n4001 means nothing to me! my m8 said he would look into which ones he used for his car as he couldnt remember, thinks they were 5v ones or sumic!

but if u think ur ones will do the job il av a go! :D

should i pm u my addy?! :D

1n4001 is a fairly high power diode, should be ok, sorry if i'm talkin stuff you know but a diode is just a one way valve for electricity! Not sure how you fit it though cos most have solid wire leads so need soldering but I'll see what I can do with a bit of cable and heat shrink sleeve, i wanna see this sorted so I know what to do with mine, then perhaps a write up?
