Much overdue I know, but here goes…
Craig popped over on Thurs/Fri with the intention of us doing a few things to his new car:
Fit LCR front splitter,
Refurbish the front and rear callipers (sand, zinc primer, matt black and lacquer finish) and paint the bells of the discs with detailing paint,
Fit 5mm H&R front spacers and 15mm rear spacers,
And detail the outside of the car.
Before...
As Craig has already mentioned, everything went to plan (I know, I was amazed too…). We started by washing the car on Thursday evening, which involved pressure washing, Kleenfreaks snow foam, Meguiars Gold shampoo and conditioner and a final rinse down outside including engine bay, door and boot seals, etc. Someone had a hangover so that called for an early night (tut tut Craig)…
Friday was a hot day but we managed to get what we needed to do done. We put the car on axle stands, removed the wheels, which were washed using Wolf’s wheel cleaner and Meg’s shampoo, then waxed with Dojo Juice’s Bananarama wax and Meg’s QuickWax . The callipers were painted along with the wheel centre caps and left to dry. This is a pic of a finished calliper to give you an idea…
The splitter was simple enough to fit using tap-in screws. The hardest part was getting it properly aligned but its dead on and looking right at home. With the wheels detailed and the callipers and bells done, the spacers were fitted along with the wheels. Spacers make a big impression on the cars’ stance – spot on IMO – just needs lowering now.
The car was then clayed, given a full paint correction using a DA with Meg’s microfiber cutting/finishing pads and cutting and glazing compounds. The paint was actually in very good condition with very few swirl marks and only a few scratches so we didn’t need to be too aggressive with the paint correction stages. The car was waxed with Meg’s liquid wax using a DA finishing pad. I would have liked to have put some Dodo paste wax on but it was too hot and too late in the day, so Craig will apply some when he washes it next. All plastics were treated with Autobrite’s black dye and Meg’s Endurance tyre dressing.
Now the pictures...
